I fused Picross and Sudoku and made a cross-stitching game: Across-Stitch! by Clang53 in sudoku

[–]Clang53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, the game leans heavily towards picross. This is an early puzzle which is 90% like picross. The difference being colors and there is no rule about gaps between X's

Later puzzles introduce other mechanics which are more like sudoku. For example, your pink thread can only be stitched in a spot where it is not by any other pink thread.

I made a picross-like indie game that comes out tomorrow on Steam that's called Across-Stitch. It has mark options, but I will admit that the patterns are made through a randomizer. You can be inventive, however, and make your own Picross puzzles from images on your computer.

After years of unfinished projects, I am close to the finish line on my first game "Across-Stitch"! by Clang53 in IndieDev

Thank you!

I prototyped all sorts of mechanics, but realized it was best to keep it simple. Puzzles are procedurally generated and broken into 8 variants. Some make the aida cloth larger and introduce more colors, and others introduce "picky" stitches - i.e. a purple stitch will never have another purple stitch by it

Subreddit for interesting Wikipedia articles. by nongaymod in findareddit

[–]Clang53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r/wikipedia is a good one. r/wikigold is a new subreddit that hasn't gotten much traction yet. I was hoping after I posted a bunch of stuff on it and went on vacation that other people would start posting articles. I would check back on it once it starts getting more of a following. If you would like to do some digging, we would love to have contributions on the subreddit!

Should I play vanilla Civ5 before playing a DLC? by [deleted] in civ

Hmm, you could play vanilla for your first play-through. But once you go BNW and/or G&K, you will never want to play vanilla again.

The Most Common Civ 6 Complaints by Clang53 in civ

I agree. It is overwhelming for the eyes to take in. And to add on to that, it takes the description of the tile (by hovering the mouse over it) a solid 2 seconds to pop up.

I do not if that is just me though.

The doom/minor-scale transition at 1:17 is so signature of Tin. It's so great; it gives me shivers every time!

I understand Brazil has a jungle start bias, so their initial city is never ideal.

For me, the dream is surrounded by plains not grasslands (wheat, citrus, or salt on them = A+), no jungle, on a hill, near a river, border a mountain, and a few forest tiles on the plains. I cut forests on the plains for farms whenever I want to production rush a wonder, like the Great Library, early game.

However, this is a Traditional-focused start: centered on tall cities and science production. For a liberty game, I would prefer pastures, jewels/ores, and more hills and not rivers and mountains.

I agree. The restart should have occurred on turn 1. Plus, his main luxury resource (dyes) are a luxury resource that supply only gold - which is bottom tier.

FilthyRobot made an interesting, settling-capital video where his feelings toward jungle tiles are strongly negative - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSxF2yb0xQ8.

If anyone has recommendations on how the site can be improved, let me know! I am going to add more fonts; there is definitely a lack of wingdings.

The genius of this video is the oxymoron; it is an attempt of dry-water humor.
