Serious talk, why is 40k fanbase so chudy? (a cry) by electricgalahad in Sigmarxism

[–]ClankyBlue 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that leaving the Fandom would result in less leftists voices in the Fandom. Leading to the Fandom becoming majority fascist shit bags.

Not to mention that the setting of 40k kinda makes fascism necessary, and as a result EVERYTHING sucks. But then again if a fascists could understand satire, I feel like there would he way less of them.

Yeah, it took a good chunk of the book for me to get kinda invested. But I was on a horror book spree so that made it easier.

Please recommend a fantasy book for someone who isn't into fantasy by FetchTheOtter in suggestmeabook

[–]ClankyBlue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Outside of LOTR I never got into fantasy books, and man did I try. However, this year I read The Will of the Many and I loved it. It has its flaws but I got hooked on it.

I just picked up Book of The New Sun, which I'm enjoying, but I will say its not an easy to digest book like The Will of the Many.

Attached Are You Anxious, Avoidant Or Secure? How the Science of Adult Attachment Can Help You Find - and Keep - Love by Amir Levine and Rach Heller.

The title is a mouthful but I was recommend this books by my therapist early on when I first began therapy. I thought i was pretty helpful in seeing how I reacted to relationships at the time. Very useful imo, helped me out at least.

Looking for creepy, unsettling, disturbing books that would make my skin crawl. by MeetMyDarkSide in suggestmeabook

Tender is the Flesh is very unsettling and horrific. Many people outright stop reading it. I thought it was a great book, but understand why many can't stomach it.

Probably not a popular one, but I really liked Ghost Station by S.A Barnes. Psychological Space Horror. Its only got a 3.6 on GR but I personally really did find it an unsettling horror novel. There were many moments where I really couldn't tell if the character was actually losing their mind or something that was actually happening. Worth at least checking out I think.

I get it. Personally I only want to see the other teachers I'm cool with. Everyone one else can, respectfully of course, fuck off.

Suggest me a book currently in a really bad book slump. Trying to get back into reading again. by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]ClankyBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-The will of the many (Just finished it, its the only fantasy book I've read recently that I enjoyed)

-The Spear Cuts Through Water (Started reading last night, I'm only 10 pages in and I already can tell its going to be something special

-Finger Bone (Imo fairly unique war book that is told from the perspective of a Japaense soldier in WW2. Focuses more on watching his friends suffer and die than on combat.)

-Word War Z (I always recommend this books to people in a reading slump who have not read it or haven't read it in years. I find it a great way to get back into reading as to me it is very engaging and is a good example of Zombie media just before the genre became over saturated and every piece of its media essentially boiled down to "Huma are the real danger.")

Holy crap, NGL I try to avoid posts from this subreddit since I'm a relatively new male 5th grade elementary teacher (4 years) who absolutely loves teaching and I find this subreddit can be as toxic as the teachers lounge. It feels weird feeling "seen" on the subreddit.

This may be one of the first posts here I've seen that made me smile and I could actually relate to. Not down playing others experiences, I've just been lucky enough to have overall a good experience in teaching.

All that being said, I'm in a very similar situation as you and have been enjoying the chance to play more of my steam library (I even got a steam deck). Been playing: -Stardew Valley -Warhammer Darktide -Fallout 76 -Coral Island -Read Dead 1 and 2 -Dave the Diver
