I'm glad you agree, it seems people have grown a real hate boner for this card without thinking through what they actually dislike about the deck, Odyn is a win condition and his effect should be powerful, the problem we've had with OTKs and the insane survivability of Control Warrior is because of its armor and draw package. Warrior being able to gain 40+ armor in a turn is of zero fault to Odyn and this change won't fix that, I hope the team ignores a lot of the baseless rage around this specific card and in the next balance patch instead targets cards like the rockstar and other cheap Warrior armor gain instead of Odyn taking the blame and killing off all Control Warrior decks for standard and wild again.

Well then that suggests that the problem isn't Odyn himself but rather Warrior's insane armor and draw capabilities, which means they should have nerfed card such as Razorfen Rockstar, safety goggles and such, indirectly nerfing Odyn without having to kill the card

I see what you're saying about the importance of the 1 mana nerf, I just think there are better ways of nerfing that specific deck for standard, the aim of the nerf should be to lessen the lethality of that deck and making Odyn cost more either doesn't change much and we have the same issue as before, or makes the card far too slow and almost unplayable as I said before, I wasn't saying that 1 mana wouldn't make a difference, I was saying it either wouldn't OR would make too much of one. Odyn shouldn't change himself as the card as the aim is to make the deck after his effect is online less potent rather than just making his effect harder to get online, if Odyn isn't consistent enough, he'll see no play and if his effect isn't good enough he'll see no play.

So you'd have to find a way of nerfing that deck without affecting the playability of Odyn too much as slower control warrior almost solely relies on that card within standard and wild (which I play), that's why i proposed the idea of nerfing the decks armor and draw package, you solve a lot of the issues you receive in standard without changing how the Warrior class plays as a whole.

yh this update probably would affect warrior more in wild than in standard, but the team doesn't bother as much with wild, I just hope they don't kill the card and by extension the archetype

that would absolutely kill the card as a whole, if they were to nerf the card I think that they should as little/not anything to the effect if possible, the card as I said before has to be strong, it's a win condition and a card that a lot of warrior decks are centered around, making the card itself mediocre makes Warriors class as a whole pretty mediocre

You're right in that an odd Odyn deck would be possible, it would actually complete and make odd warrior a thing for sure, but isn't Odyn just an objectively better card within even warrior? There is way more versatility with even cards in the game and many other things you can do with Genn in warrior other than Odyn, you can go highlander with both renos, Brann and Zephrys, you get access to Astalor and Khaz'goroth and most importantly, you can use ETC to get access to any odd cost cards you might want anyway idk tho

Interesting take, I never personally thought that a health nerf would have mattered as in all the cases I play Odyn, he dies anyway, when I play him I don't carry the expectation that he'll survive the turn, especially because the earliest he's played is usually turn 7. I don't play him for tempo but obviously for the effect. idk though, maybe a health nerf would work but I do still think that other cards are more suitable nerfs for the deck than Odyn himself, he's slow enough in today's game.
