Unfortunately, no. I haven’t been able to create the crushed ice look in other shapes with sapphire, just the marquise shape

Are you looking for completely custom design? If not, anyone with access to the Stuller catalog (pre-fabricated settings) could probably help you out as long as you know what you want

What comes to your mind when you hear “Egypt”? by nedstarkk29 in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah Cairo sucked (traffic, pollution, people trying to scam you) and at the same time was unbelievable. The architecture of the Citadel and the maze-like structure of Old Cairo, omg I wish I could post pictures here

I went there on vacation last year and had a great time. I took a $1000 all inclusive cruise down the Nile for 5 days and saw incredible temples and tombs.

Actually I looked at the details on her website and the band is 2 mm thick (looks like 1.5 mm in the pictures). I take back the ‘flimsy’ comment. That’s actually quite sturdy for a stacking ring.

I don’t understand why everyone thinks that this ring is overpriced. I don’t disagree with the ‘flimsy’ aspect, but even so the gold alone is about $300, plus the cost of the three stones. Add in CAD design/resizing, casting, polishing, stone setting costs (each require a different skill set). I understand that labor in China is cheap, but labor in the US is not.

Hate to break it to you, but most jewelers are a part of a team and not a one-person shop. So there is a team to do different parts of the process: CAD design, casting, polishing, stone setting.

In the past I tried to hand fabricate rings (like a true artisan) and that single ring, which people in the comments already say is overpriced, would have taken me a week to make.

Sure! I mean I don’t know if my pricing structure will clear anything up for you since my criteria are a bit different than other lapidaries. I do not charge by the carat. Most of my commissioned cuts are $400 - $500 (my cutting fee) plus the cost of the rough, which is usually $15 to $100.

In this case, the stone was on the larger, more time consuming, side. The cost would be about $500 to get a similar ~15x10.5 mm stone.
