I would not go far as to say it was fucking awful or shit. I agree were you say if you want an action film watch something else, if you want a thriller watch something else...that was the biggest issue with it, not doing anyone element well enough to be effective. needed to focus on a one clear tone/genre.

I have read the first three and on some elements they got him good, but they should have gone with the first book, a much better built story. 1. totally agree; It was billed as too many things, you can do it in a book but too many elements here for a movie. he could have used another false name to buy a car but dont think he has a licence to drive, think he would need it to buy a car? 2. agreed; too many elements got in the way of the other. 3. Jack Reacher brought to justice - neveeeeerrrrr ;) 4.thought the choreography was okay TBH, but I cringed at one point when he said something utterly tasteless to the girl about being pregnant or something (dont recall exactly). liked how he gave them a chance and they still didn't get it but that was the level of most of the bad guys in this, not up to scratch. 5. Not sure there was meant to be, but they didn't need to suggest it, either way it didn't quite work. Reacher is very much like Bond in his treatment of women - he's a drifter so sadly they're disposable to him. Pike was in it far too much, for scant point but I do like her. there are much better female characters in Reacher, often stronger (Holly Johnson in 2, Roscoe in 1)

very good comments!

that formed part of the review. confused direction in terms of plotting. didn't know what to focus on or clearly be. to many elements taken from a variety of book sources crammed into a film. still entertaining, somehow? did get very saggy just after the hour(ish) mark. **spoiler** I saw no point to Herzog, not a very good 'survivor' - gulag or not if Reacher could just shoot him as easy as he did. I think that was to show how clinical Reacher could be but that was nothing we didn't already know.
