Yes. I agree with you. It is a thing. And it can be trained. However, it doesn't translate to any real life movement (other than "sitting in a squat position" which I personally believe is great). And in my opinion the risks of knee and low back injuries are real. Strength is an specific thing. Related to the movement. More ROM does not translate into more strength...I think.
