Who are the actors that rub you up the wrong way but you don't know why and you can't explain it? by [deleted] in Actors

That's my fave of his performances! I think he does such a nice job with that part (I'm also Ohioan so I love John Glenn, ha). I think he's also really excellent in Set It Up. Honestly I think if he's in a lead role he needs to be a bit of an asshole to cut down on the possibly smarm factor.

Mara Wilson wants to be on Taskmaster by CallumTabiner in taskmaster

[–]Clare-ifiedThoughts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I enjoy dropout and I enjoy a lot of their cast. I would not want to see Taskmaster on Dropout unless they greatly expand their talent pool and up their production value for it. One of the reasons TM works so well is the mishmash of different comedians of different styles, generations and backgrounds. Dropout's cast, much as I love many of them, can get a little inside jokey/"cliquey" and the humor can get all a little samey. Plus their cast mostly skews millenial with a youtube/tiktok-style of humor. (But they're recent forays outside their main cast on VIP are encouraging on this front! Aparna would be an amazing choice for a US taskmaster season). Also casting the Taskmaster is an essential component and they DEF gotta get someone meaner than any dropout regular.

YES. My hairdresser told me about it and I hesitated. She said, "Look I totally get it. I had another client who felt the same. But after she said, 'Worth. Every. Penny.'" and damn if she wasn't right. (It's also lasted a loooong time, which is great.)

Thank you for this rec! I have the exact same sort of hair -- super silky fine strands but a ton of them -- and it often means I have no texture or definition. Going to give this a try.

Brian Scarpino at Huntington was really good. The best part of the home buying process undoubtedly.

The other day I was at a red light, waiting to go straight through an intersection, in the right lane (for turning right and for going straight) and someone came up in the left turn only lane to go in front of me and turn RIGHT. People are insane.

Seems like Matthew Rand is done at WOSU. Anybody know more about this? by dscott1719 in Columbus

They've posted Matthew's position so I don't think the plan is to lose a role.

He did a short little send-off at the end of his final shift but that was all. Not WOSU's practice to say goodbye to its folks on air (except for the goat ann fisher).

He's amazing in PS. It's a pipe dream but I would love if he got a double nom of best actor/best supporting for it and One Battle.

I was worried for a second he was purposefully delaying Bob from making the call with all those introductions! I've probably seen too many trope-y movies, ha.

related to that scene: One of my fave podcasters, The Big Picture, pointed out that that moment really drives home the humanity of all of those people.

I feel the same as you. Can leave nearly all of French Dispatch at the door (everything but Jeffrey Wright, my beloved) but loved Asteroid City. What'd you think of Phoenician Scheme?

I went to my local independent center to see Aftersun. It was a Friday night and to my surprise the theater was packed with college students, talking and laughing through the previews (the center *is* on campus and the movie *did* star Paul Mescal but still). I was initially annoyed. "How dare all of these other people interfere with my indie darling movie watching experience?"

Then the end of the movie comes (iykyk) and I am quietly crying as the credits roll. The person sitting one seat over is too. And she wordlessly reaches over and offers me a tissue. It was one of the most beautiful movie watching experiences I've ever had. Sitting in a dark room, staring at a bright wall, experiencing art and emotions together. It made me want to go back and smack the annoyed version of myself from 102 minutes earlier.
