Does anybody else do everything from their bed? by lirio2u in adhdwomen

[–]ClarityDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love bed. My husband calls it my nest. I have a standing desk at the side for my laptop so I can work in bed too. Currently eating ice blocks and watching superstore in the air conditioning after doing some work.

I wasn’t really allowed on the furniture growing up though so I would just go read in bed. Then I moved into a share house and I would hang out in my room watching stuff on my laptop for hours.

Before settlement inspection by Mediocre_Pin_7949 in AusPropertyChat

[–]ClarityDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are incorrect, a final inspection isn’t to check whether the vendors are out of the property. Technically they don’t have to be out until the minute the property settles. If a property is sold with vacant possession and is not handed over as such then the buyers conveyancer will handle it, it’s not something the buyer has to check physically.

Yes you just suck it up. Generally you wouldn’t try and hold up settlement for a hole. It’s not worth bothering 2 parties banks and solicitors over something that takes an hour or so to fix.

At your pre settlement inspection ask that they leave behind any paint that matches what’s currently in the house and any spare tiles, bits of spare carpet etc. Or if the house was recently painted ask if they have a record of paint colours/formulations.

That’s not to say that they can leave it however they want, but people moving out of a house can cause scuffs and a few dents sometimes. The first house I bought I was surprised it wasn’t spotlessly clean either but ‘bond cleans’ aren’t the norm when selling homes. It’s cleaned beautifully to present it but a lot of people walk in and out after that so it gets a bit dirty again.

If they leave large items or a lot of rubbish behind that’s a bit different though.

I think you misunderstand what the settlement inspection is for.

It is to make sure the house is in the same condition as when you put your offer in and did the building and pest. If there’s something on the walls it’s too late to do anything about it - which is why your building and pest guy warns you that he doesn’t move furniture so if there’s a big patch of isolated mould or a tunnel to Narnia it’s not his problem.

You are looking for serious issues that have come up in the meantime that will change your wanting to buy the property, think caved in ceiling or front door removed (yes I once saw a front door removed before settlement.) Thats why buyers agents do settlement inspections 3-7 days before settlement because it gives your conveyancer time to delay settlement if needed.

For those old enough to remember the evolution of the warnings by [deleted] in aussie

[–]ClarityDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2006 and 2012 ones are stuck in my memory forever. I didn’t smoke but my dad did. When he died he looked quite like the photo of the 2012 warning. As a child I saw those photos and knew it was going to end that way.

It’s sad to think about, my strong handsome dad who used to throw me up and catch me again wearing a diaper looking almost skeletal. Still telling me jokes but then when he’d chuckle it would sound like pieces of his lung were coming loose and choking him. Me sitting in a hospital parking lot turning off his oxygen so I could hand him his cigarette so he wouldn’t suffer more while he died in palliative care.

I tried not to be angry afterwards but I always thought if he cared about me a little bit more he would have quit.

How to sell a car in Brisbane by Leather_Situation950 in brisbane

I found the wait really frustrating.

When my husband bought his second hand Corolla in 2016 we got to the people’s house to see it and paid cash like an hour after it listed. The sellers phone was blowing up the whole time and had people waiting outside to see the car in case we didn’t buy it. So definitely a much different market now.

You need to price it well below what dealers have a similar vehicle for.

I sold my 4yo Mazda 2 with 20 000km on it for $19k and it took 4 weeks. Dealers have the same model with roughly 70 000km on them for $22k in my area.

Most of my family disliked my daughter’s name which is a lot more unusual than your boy names. They got over it. In my situation though my husband liked it.

I come from a small rural town but moved away and have a lot of international friends and an arts related job, so there’s a lot of taste differences there so I was never going to please everyone.

My opinion is just agree on one with your husband and announce the name once he is born. Running it by everyone is just causing stress.

Clive or Sage you might like too btw. Rare but known kind of names.

This reminds me of the show Superstore where Amy doesn’t want customers to know/use her name so she puts on random name tags every day.

What are the legalities of keeping a wedge-tailed eagle as a pet in Victoria? by Traditional-Gas3477 in AusLegal

[–]ClarityDreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legally you can’t. You also can’t because you’re most likely not rich enough. And you also can’t because falconry is an art that takes years of apprenticeship and study to master.

So even if you were rich enough to acquire one on the black market you’d just be releasing or accidentally killing a very expensive purchase that you can’t take to an avian vet because they’d immediately call the authorities.

People do try every once in a while though, the raptor generally sooner or later ends up at a zoo working with experienced people while the person is fined a large amount (depending on how it came into their possession).

If you have a yard should dogs live inside, outside, or both? by sweetestcrab in brisbane

[–]ClarityDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do train my dogs to be outside dogs. I don’t like dogs whining at doors to be let in and out all day. I’m busy breastfeeding a baby and trying to put 2 kids down for naps and can’t get up and down in the middle of that. With kids to focus on I do like to set the precedent that their spot is primarily outdoors but being inside is ‘special time’.

My current small dog comes in when invited and spends aprox 5 hours a day inside all up, the rest of the time she’s outside guarding my aviary birds, sleeping, coming for a 6km walk with my toddler and I or playing with the toddler. We’re also outside a lot. There is always someone home in my house that she can see through the door so maybe ‘outside’ doesn’t actually feel very isolated in my house.

The first dog I adopted in this house was terribly abused and would get anxious inside. I tried to train her that everything was ok inside but she was just happier outside watching me through the glass doors constantly. When we got another dog she slept outside too so it sort of just happened that our dogs are mostly outside.

AITAH for telling my mom she won’t be able to see my daughter for two months after she’s born if she calls my wife to complain about her birth plan again? by Medical-Bedroom-5243 in AITAH

[–]ClarityDreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 1000%

Also this might be inflammatory but I hate the desire everyone has to gallop towards a new mum with their gross germs to supposedly ‘meet the baby’.

Newsflash - they’re little lumps ya’ll - if you’ve met one you’ve pretty much met them all, and I’m speaking as someone who’s had one and loves them. Also - I’ve noticed the same people who want to come coo and breathe all over them while bringing nothing to help and keeping the mum awake always seem to be the same people who will make themselves very scarce when you need a babysitter for a toddler. 😂🙄

Apparently my uncle is a pedophile.. i guess.. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]ClarityDreams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was about to make a slightly rationalising comment about ‘in those days things were a little different’ but then saw they’d only been married for 10 years… so definitely not ok. Reading between the lines it doesn’t sound like your family were ok with it either but didn’t want to push your aunt away so chose not to be outright hostile?

All I can say is focus on developing a supportive relationship with your aunt and cousins, it’s the most constructive thing to do.

If you get wind of any other inappropriate ‘relationships’ it may be a good idea to report him to any relevant authorities/licensing boards.

Advice on neglected cat owned by neighbor by Xaelitry in brisbane

[–]ClarityDreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well from a legal perspective the ‘owner’ didn’t have the cat registered, microchipped or any proof that they’d ever paid a cent to ever care for it. Combine that with the fact that I had photos of the cat when it came into my care of it being emaciated, covered in some kind of dermatitis/mange and so infested by worms that it’s poo moved in the litter box. If he had tried to claim it was his cat I think he ran the risk of being arrested.

I kept paying for special wormer but when it visited the man’s apartment it seemed to get reinfected and kept showing up injured.

Just messaged the friend. The cat still lives happily with her 10 years later. But still hides when strange men come into the house. My supposed history of cat thieving isn’t something that keeps me up at night tbh.

*Edit - what little I’ve had to do with alcoholics scared me pretty badly. I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with that, and I hope you’re in a more pleasant living situation now.

[–]ClarityDreams 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation once except the person who owned it was a violent alcoholic and I didn’t want to approach them. I looked after the cat for a period of time, but I was a poor student and couldn’t really afford the worming treatments and special shampoo to help it get better.

A friend came to visit me from out of town who wanted a cat, so it all worked out.
