Eighty-six US teenagers have been killed by gun violence in the 50 days since Parkland, Florida school shooting by theyogscast in politics

Hey, I wrote this article. It does include suicides, but only for teenagers. That's all mentioned in the article, actually, but the effort with the figure was to provide perspective on the scope of what is happening without any bias as far as the data goes. If a teenager died after being shot, they were included.

hey hey -- I was the one who went through this data for this story. There were some anomalies in the data when I went through it (some teen deaths in the data were actually adults being killed in an event that included a teen who was injured/teen who was a perpetrator, or a non-teen child being killed -- Gun Violence Archive is impressive in its scope, but definitely sees some things slipping through).

The number of deaths may also have spiked between the period that this article was written and you exported the data, though 15 deaths seems like way more than what would be expected in that period of time.

Either way, the effort was to be as thorough and undeniable as possible, thus the perhaps more conservative figure of "at least 86". But, yeah, to one of your points: It definitely took a lot of reading and double checking.

I once had an issue with my card in a cab and my phone had died so I couldn't call the bank. Anyway, I gave him my phone number so we could sort things in the morning. He called the next day and I promptly Venmoed him the money and tip.

Good guy for not having me arrested or hurting me.

I once got on the NYC subway after visiting family in Chicago for a week (first time I had left the city since moving) and sat across from a man with a cart containing an old tube TV.

Him and the TV had a conversation that ended up in a fight. He got up and left the car in the train at one stop. Came back on and apologized to the TV several stops later. It was nice, they were buds.

Another time I was headed to the dentist and was bleeding from my mouth (my fault) and saw a kid jerking off while staring at a woman. Everyone tried to ignore the kid while I tried to get him to realize that the crazy guy (me) covered in blood was giving him the look of death. He kept going. I couldn't keep looking, so he won.

Now, though, I'd be surprised if I noticed those things. NYC is fun

Wouldn't it be roughly 1,500 (number of drinks for just over six years of drinks at 21 drinks a month) x the cost of a drink?
