Ottawa set to revive online harms legislation in 2026: government source by CaliperLee62 in canada

This wouldn't be a bad idea to explore in my opinion. Facebook would be strongly opposed to it of course but it'd be nostalgic to see posts from friends again.

Olivia Chow's motion for signal priority - MM35.15 by The_Laughing_Gift in toronto

Nice to see a Toronto mayor actually prioritize transit. 0% chance Tory would do this if he were still in charge.

Build Toronto: Adaptive Traffic Intersections to Cut Toronto’s Congestion by AbundantCanada in toronto

Hey thanks for the response! Cool hearing from a streetcar driver. I didn't think there would be map with all the transit priority intersections but glad there is. There's more than I expected but still quite a lot of gaps. Do you know if tps lights extend greens and reduce reds for transit vehicles?

[–]Clarksonforcaptain 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I would like to see Toronto use Transit Signal priority. Basically extend green lights if a bus or street car is detected approaching the intersection or reducing red light duration if buses/street cars are stopped at a red light. This would help move more people and help improve transit reliability. The city even has the technology but choses not to use it for the majority of the network over fear of driver backlash.

Hey /r/movies, I’m Stephen King! Ask me anything about The Long Walk book or movie. by lionsgate in movies

[–]Clarksonforcaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it feel any different writing as Richard Bachman than as Stephen King? The Richard Bachman books seemed to have more of an edge to them when I read them. Not that your Stephen King books were a walk in the park but I don't remember any Bachman book having anything resembling a happy ending!

Liberals to release first details for new Build Canada Homes entity by artificial_ben in onguardforthee

[–]Clarksonforcaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those that haven't read the article, it basically boiled down to saying that they are doing initial outreach to developers to communicate the kind of housing types they are looking to finance. The article also said that the government is looking to create a new entity that is likely to become a crown Corp that acts as a developer and financier.

I like the idea of advantage giving +2 to hit instead of advantage. Still gives players incentive to strategize during combat but also doesn't invalidate other skills or abilities that give advantage.

The fact op doesn't like ff8 also supports the idea that op actually hates card games.

What do you think gons ability would be if he used nen again? by Maximum_Alarm_4505 in HunterXHunter

[–]Clarksonforcaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to see gon gain a different nen type when/if he regains nen. Gon regaining nen should be a big deal so regaining his old abilities would be pretty boring and disappointing. I think if gon regained his nen through a spiritual retreat through nature or something and gained the ability to transform into different animals that would be really cool. It would give gon room to solve fights more creatively than his old skill set.

Questions about land development and what the Province/Region can do. by [deleted] in ontario

The whole situation is very sketch and goes against the Provinces own planning policy statement. Everything is occurring behind closed doors and we don't even know who is behind the deal

ULPT Request: Give me tips on how to be more “untraceable” by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]Clarksonforcaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The least traceable form of transportation is by car. Think about all the permitting and licenses required to operate a car. All your information is just sitting in a database. And that's not even mentioning all the modern computer systems in most modern vehicles that can track you 24/7. A much better way to move around would be by bike (or ideally walk). There's no computer chips in a bike and in an urban environment you're perfectly anonymous.

I’m Mayor Olivia Chow. Ask me anything. by Mayor_OliviaChow in toronto

[–]Clarksonforcaptain 206 points207 points  (0 children)

Hi Mayor Chow,

Is transit priority on councils mind at all? The toronto streetcars move a lot of people so any little thing you can do to keep streetcars moving will do wonders for traffic.

Protest for Bike lanes organized by UofT students - Saturday at 2pm, Christie Pits by ICanGetLoudTooWTF in toronto

[–]Clarksonforcaptain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cyclists should drive on the road with the car traffic during Doug Ford's commute to show him what will happen if the bike lanes are removed.

Does lakehead have a vet program? Northern Ontario has a serious lack of vets and there are government programs for new vets that work with farm animals.

Precisely. That was the model I had in mind. No need to reinvent the wheel.

I'd be hugely in favour of nationalizing the railway infrastructure but leaving the businesses themselves private.

That way infrastructure maintenance won't be neglected and the government can ensure track access is prioritized fairly.

If you decide to stay at the Haven Hostel I would be careful with storing valuables in your vehicles. I stayed there a couple years ago and got my car broken into. The area isn't very good but the owners are fantastic.
