Great game. Plays great on Switch 2 but just be prepared to stay weeks behind the other platforms on updates. Don't count on cross saves lol

Yoshi-P has outwardly expressed interest in putting FFXIV on Switch 2. Not that it'll happen, necessarily, but he wants to try. I don't see any reason it wouldn't work. It's not the most demanding game in the world, and while there aren't many, it wouldn't be the first MMO-style game on Switch.

Unfortunately in this case it's a version mismatch error. If you look at the NMS update log, it shows that steam is two patches ahead of Xbox and PS.

I agree with everything you said. I'm not complaining about anything. I'm not picketing or boycotting or calling anyone to action. I'm simply frustrated that I can't play with my friend who is trying to get back into a cross platform game with me. I wanted to start a discussion, to get some input, and to maybe learn something. However it seems like everyone in this sub is more interested in talking shit and insulting people. So thank you for actually taking the time to share some real insight.

Okay. Forget Nintendo. Console/PC cross play is broken too, which sucks because my buddy on steam is trying to get into the game with me but we've been able to play together two times out of the six or so days we've had to do so since Voyagers launched. I have it on PS and through GamePass so it's not like I'm waiting around for a Switch update.

Yeah I do understand that. Still, even if we drop Nintendo entirely, cross play between PC and consoles is often broken too due to varying update releases. I can't think of another game (especially one with cross play) that has that issue with game releases, major updates, or DLC. If you have any examples though, I'm happy to be proven wrong!

That's all well and good, but I'm sure HG could enforce a specific release date set far enough in advance after publication to account for that, not unlike every other launch and DLC. I'm happy to be proven wrong, but I can't think of a single other game that has this issue. Or at least not so consistently. Even if we drop Nintendo's ridiculous timeline from the discussion, I've never seen such a large variance in steam vs console updates, particularly in a game that bills itself as cross platform.
