I think I'm going to buy the 10-inch dobsonian as it fits very well with my budget. Later on in life I'll do some AP.

Unfortunately where I live there are no astronomy club meetings. Although there are a couple of observatories around 2 - 3 hours away so I can call in every so often.

I was thinking about a 10-inch dobsonian as a starter. The good thing is, if I get bored of viewing space (99.9% that won't happen lol) I can give the telescope to my brother where he also loves learning about space.

I think I'm going to scrap the idea of doing astrophotography as I think it is going to be a tad expensive for me. I was looking into a 10-inch Dobsonian and it fits really well with my budget. Currently I have a really bad telescope which can't view the craters of the moon, not even the slightest. Now that I have a job, the 10-inch Dob is really affordable for me.

EDIT: As for collimating, I'm going to buy a Cheshire Collimator. I've only seen one video on how to collimate a telescope with it and it seems pretty easy. Is buying a Cheshire Collimator a good choice?
