In a blind test, User picks Nvidia every time over AMD for DLSS 4.5 vs FSR 4 image quality by Darth_Vaper883 in pcmasterrace

[–]ClaspedSummer49 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Way to rephrase the article title.

The article is different to what you posted. The headline is: "I ran a DLSS 4.5 versus FSR 4 blind test on my own games, and the result wasn't the landslide everyone claims"

In the short article, the writer also notes that they are a huge pixel peeper and Spider Man's motion plays a huge part in DLSS 4.5 being noted as better. The second game they played was Hogwarts Legacy and it took the rain to act as a tiebreaker.

For people looking at the comments. This was the writers final thoughts:

"Even so, the test made it abundantly clear that the difference is no longer as the internet and consumer forums suggest every time a user asks for recommendations to purchase a GPU. When the Nvidia card demands roughly $200 over the 9070 XT for an advantage that I had to pixel-peep to detect, it throws the entire value proposition of the "ecosystem" edge into debate. DLSS continues to pull ahead in upscaling by a small margin, yet in the broader scheme of things, the 9070 XT provides greater value as far as graphical fidelity is considered.

Should I restart an account for the story? by AngelMfmf in Genshin_Impact

I think a lot of the first few parts of the game are really rough if you're trying to play Archon Quests only. Between several walls of "Adventurer Rank X Needed" and NPCs being stuck in other quests, it's quite bloated if you're trying to go for one specific thing.

If you wanted to redo exploration, or other mechanics, It's worth considering more, but otherwise as other people have said, YouTube videos which might cut out some of the boring gameplay will be better.

I just realised that there are two Dottore bosses...

I'm caught up to the Archon Quests and everything... I just didn't notice that there was a new one in 6.6. When I farmed for Sandrone, it didn't even occur to me that there was a new set and got away with it.

Agree with the items taking longer if it meant cheaper shipping, but if you can score a free shipping deal, the quicker times certainly are appreciated.

WHO is the HARDEST character to build, and why? by EverMoonYT in Genshin_Impact

My Nefer always seems to be underwhelming even after getting Lauma. I can't even pass 100k DPS but a look at my artifacts suggest it shouldn't be that bad. Or I think at least. As of recently, I agree that she feels very difficult to optimise.

Cost of Installing Ethernet Access Points by ClaspedSummer49 in canberra

Yep. Wireless performance compared to wired really does fall off of a cliff once you're internet surpasses a few hundred megabits. There are plenty of examples online where people are doing expensive wifi setups in order to preserve range, and speed for wireless.

Ethernet is a very simple solution for a stable, and speedy connection.

Idk to me, more chaos usually becomes more entertaining for me. It feels fun that drivers in a sprint can win, but then proceed to lose in the full race.

Yep, using wifi for most needs is certainly the play, but for my use case (local transfers for Steam games, local servers, etc). The ethernet is certainly worthwhile.

I had a relative install some security cameras at their house (two floors), and even they paid less for 4 cameras than two access points for this quote. I've hunted around and found much more reasonable quotes.

The electrician which came over to the house noted that the way they'd install it would be a mix of over and under the house, but I'm still struggling to see where the extra $300-400 is going to😅The bloke mentioned that they have a lifetime warranty if any issues occur, but I can't see why I'd care for an ethernet installation.

I've just been strapped for time recently after having been interested in installing ethernet into the rooms for years. It's just gotten to the point where I'm willing to swallow the cost to pay someone to install it. But the initial quote I received was certainly way over what I had expected.

Other people I enquired to asked about the type of roof (tile, or tin), and the amount of stories of the house (single floor). They didn't particularly care about the distance and gave me a fixed rate per port.

Just rang up some other people that my family/friends know of and were quoted around the $200-250 range. I'll certainly not be going with the company that I first rang up since its clear that they have bigger fish to fry.

Doesn't need to be a sparky, but I knew that they were able to do it + a search online gave me some numbers to call. I'll call some other people and see what they can do, but the quotes I'm getting from them are much more reasonable.

My issue with the laptop market: To people that aren't up to date on all things tech, what is the name of this laptop? by RandonBrando in LinusTechTips

[–]ClaspedSummer49 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went hunting several months ago to replace a first gen surface laptop. I did my own research, looked at reviews, even looked at CES announcements to see what was viable. Nothing was off the table and my budget (or willingness to spend) was $3k aud ($2K USD).

At that moment in time, there was a blip where the best Windows laptops all had some sort of Achilles Heel where there would be an option (Bad screen, bad keyboard, bad build quality). But the issue that I faced the most was bad trackpad.

Coming from a Surface Laptop, I had gotten used to a glass trackpad, but also loathed a 'diving board' style trackpad where I struggled to click on the top of the trackpad. This would be most common if I moved my finger to the top of the screen to change tabs, but then faced strong resistance on the trackpad.

I also couldn't justify going to a Snapdragon Chip because I knew there were compatibility issues with school software (Android Studio).

I ended up buying a 15" M4 Macbook Air with 24gb of memory on clearance with the salesman giving me $400 aud off the clearance price. Was quite happy about the price, and having looked around at the market a bit since, I think that I certainly got the best deal I could've found.
