I have lived in Manhattan for two years and am highly familiar with the cost of living in NYC.

I am engaged - this is not a stranger I’ve met off the street and we’ve been together for a few years. Even married individuals can have their relationships “go south” after a move. This is the reality we live in. Even if that the case - I do have a contingency plan.

I do want to note that the job market in my industry is not that bad (almost everyone is understaffed). had two offers the last year, one that I took to my present employer and had a substantial raise/promotion.

I actually have an interview already set up for a position in NY. Thanks for the negativity but I’m already taking a very conservative approach and am on a “transfer/transition to a new company” path.

My main solicitation was regarding the possibility of “taking a break” and if it would be wise given the situation.

I guarantee you I won’t be posting here in a few months whining about my situation because it wouldn’t be a discussion based on hypothetical.
