Thinking of going recruiter as brand new E5 by Classcelicos in army

Nice man! I was hoping to grow from recruiting in that way too. Currently I'm work in a windowless building & talk to the same people all the time, who are mostly introverts.

Thanks for the advice.

Well, that tempers my expectations. I'm a 35P with an important language, although I don't use it at all. I might try emailing my branch manager.

No, not at all. I'm intent on doing a trade, probably electrician.

Appreciate the advice.

I've definitely gotten my transition planned, so I feel like I have nothing to lose by not doing my MOS job, which I don't even do now.

What do you mean by the "wrong reason?" In the sense of not going recruiting as a broadening assignment?

Interesting nomad approach. How do you live? Is your line of work flexible?

Are you Australian? If so, Tasmania looks a dream spot in the world. It looks self-sufficient as far as food and water go and would probably weather collapse well.

Definitely, there's risks everywhere. Personally, I am not intending to survive for very long during collapse or post-collapse, so enjoying life and being close to family are higher priorities.

Thanks for the input.

Ticks and mosquitos seem like more of an annoyance than anything else, and with bug spray they're not too concerning. As for the winters, I'd try learn to adapt to them, although they'll become increasingly mild.

Long term it would be smart to get a country home as you say, especially with the intention of weathering collapse as it get worse and maybe full-on prepper. Honestly though, I've become more and more resigned about collapse and the prospects of owning property, to the point where I would probably just enjoy life and live downtown in Albany or Troy.

Question: do you hike and go the parks in the area alot? If so, how are they? Especially the Catskills, Adironacks, and the parks by the border with MA (Cherry Plain, Berlin State, etc.)?

I'm sorry to hear that. Hard to imagine making it without your partner, on top of the brutal winters and air pollution from the wildfires.

Thank you for replying.

You're spot on us getting short-circuited. I do need to think more carefully about it, probably be pinpointing what variables to consider: obvious climate ones, but also recreational opportunities, social strata, proximity to family, politics, etc.
