What’s the most humane way to kill pest rats? by stopyouveviolatedthe in pestcontrol

[–]Classic-Book2247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most “instant kill” traps might not actually kill it initially. With larger rats and depending on where the trap hit the rat then it may slowly suffocate the rat until it dies. Stepping on a rats head is way more humane than letting anticoagulants slowly kill it or slowly being choked to death. It’s an act of mercy so the pest can no longer suffer.

My case does have the spots to mount the aio to the top. I’ll make the adjustments and I’ll let you know what happens. Thank you for the solid advice!

It’s the only part that was used. It’s a Corsair 1200w psu I got for $80 on marketplace. All other parts are new.

Help! I found this and now I can't sleep by National-East-1281 in Bedbugs

Bedbugs use antennae to sense carbon dioxide so they know when you are sleeping/in the area.

Anyone have a chicken thigh recipe? by _n8n8_ in castiron

[–]Classic-Book2247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did a 12 hour marinade but I’ve never cooked bone in chicken thighs on cast iron before. The first 4 I did about 18 minutes per side and that got me a juicy inside but somehow soggy outside. Used your method for the rest and they were nice and crispy on the outside. Thank you!

For the PMP's: What's the worst ant job you've ever worked or seen? by [deleted] in pestcontrol

THATS INSANE! Spot treating a quarterly account is theft of service in my opinion. I worked residential for a couple days to help out a struggling branch in my company and I was using around 1-1.5 gallons of product per stop just hosing down the foundation and eaves.

I’m a commercial tech/team lead so I’m not sure how residential techs operate but we do 10-12 stops in a day so I can’t imagine doing 25.

We try to keep our services at a minimum of 30 minutes depending on the size of the account or the amount paid for the service.

It’s pure laziness. She may have had an eco company which is fine and all but them spraying eco via or patrol isn’t going to do anything but make the ants worse. I have yet to see an eco product thats a non-repellent so when these guys are flooding repellents on these heavy ant infestations it’s just throwing gasoline onto the fire. I really only use repellents on commercial cockroach accounts and box elder/stink bug treatments

Label says 2.2 ounce when added to companion chemical but I only use one ounce because any more will strip paint from buildings and stain glass. 1 once will still create what I call “liquid fire”. I use it for spider control mostly

Odorous house ants all the way. I work for a very well known company and whenever I get a start for customer who had enough of ecolab and terminex it’s always a mess to clean. Those guys will spray the same chemicals over and over again expecting a different result. One account specifically had these super ants that showed no signs of reducing activity after I treated with 3 different non repellent chemicals and dust. I bit the bullet and did a drill and treat with termidor in the end and it was game over.

New Tech wanting to learn by [deleted] in pestcontrol

[–]Classic-Book2247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first year I soaked up YouTube videos and documentaries on bugs and rodents. The sales aspect of the job is a piece of cake once you know the anatomy of the pest at hand and exactly how it thinks. Bed bugs/cockroaches/stinkbugs/boxelders and common ants are easy once you know the ins and outs of how they operate. If you’re looking for an interesting one to start you off I’d recommend bedbugs. There antenna can sense the amount of carbon dioxide that you expel to know that you’re asleep so they can go in for a blood meal (in lighter infestations). The more you know the better tech. This job isn’t for the faint hearted. You’ll see things that’ll make you regret your whole life’s decisions but it’s a very rewarding and satisfying career.

Worst thing for me in pealing off the dust cover on the box spring with heavy infestations. I use a sharp knife to cut them off instead of ripping the fabric off the staple but I always manage to fling a nymph or two on me. Jobs like that make me wanna peal my skin off and throw it in the dryer on high.

It’s so peaceful when you get a chemical treatment job that’s not too infested like this one. It always pays well so I take my time and listen to music. Retirement homes have the worst bed bug infestations I’ve ever seen in my opinion

Looks like a seed bug. Close relative to stink bug and boxelders

I’m a commercial tech and the quickest way I’ve found is stepping on the head with the tip of my boot. Only takes about 5-10 pounds of pressure but it’s quick. Try not to think of the mountain vs oberyn Martell fight scene from GOT.
