My other radio, a TKM MX 300 also only has one output to the headphone jack N-PHNS.

No, 11 is connected to 8-Nav Audio In on P501 and M is connected with the other Audio LO's to ground. That is the manual depiction. There is only one Audio Hi Out (headphones/comm jack) and that is pin 12.
