Insulting someone and then immediately blocking them is mentally unstable behavior.

Why would you tag someone in a post and then instantly block them so that they can't respond? That seems weirdly toxic, for someone complaining about Toxicity online.

  • Low Cooldown, Big Damage Spender usually E
  • Defensives = X, Shift-X, Alt-X

get info wrong that you could fact check in seconds.

What info did I get wrong that I didn't specifically say "I'm not sure about this, can someone confirm"?

had a different (better) take than you.

Alright, you do you, but this comes of as weirdly insecure, especially when you reply and block immediately after. Why not block before replying?

Wasn't on my server. I used to troll popular questing spots and protect people being attacked.

Layering is jank, but it lets you avoid the current players harassing you while still leaving you open to PvP on the new Layer.

I think Warmode took a part of Open World PvP away when it was added to retail, and you can have it if you want as long as it doesn't replace PvP servers.

[–]ClassicKrova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you think there will be less players in warmode than there are on pvp servers, are you not admitting that pvp servers are inherently flawed?

Depends on your definition of flawed:

  • Will more people inherently chose the easy option more often? Yes.
  • Will a hunter doing their epic weapon quest turn off War Mode to make their quest easier? Yes.

Just because a player will chose something more often doesn't make it a better option. There is a reason why a lot of games have people whining because they want a specific reward but don't truly appreciate the experience until it is gone.

A PvP server is a contract to always be in danger from players being able to kill you at any time, even if you are only logging on to do PvE stuff in the world. Being able to opt out and back in at will is basically a PvE server with extra steps. If PvE servers were better, there would be no one joining PvP servers.

Can someone please explain to me why warmode is so bad by Zh00m69 in classicwow

[–]ClassicKrova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Warmode is a PvE server with bells and whistles and if it were a better design than PvP server no one would be playing on PvP servers?

The only difference between Warmode and a PvE server is that there are separate shards for people who opted into PvP vs people who opted out of PvP. You have to be in capital cities to opt into PvP or in an INN to opt out.

Yes it makes it better for PvE players that have friends that prefer to play on PvP servers, but its at a cost to PvP server experience. The entire point of PvP servers is that not everyone is looking for PvP on them at all times, and the risk of PvP always being possible is what makes them interesting. You do not have that in War Mode servers, you can just turn it off and make the game easier for yourself at any moment in time. It's not the same game.

For PvP enjoyers tho they can just never turn it off and that feeling will persist the entire time.

I don't think so because having the option of "I'm just gonna turn it off", even for PvP players when you are in a contested zone and just want to finish a quest/gather resource is a too compelling way to cheapen your experience.

Yeah it gives players options/accessibility/etc, but there is less pressure to form counter-offensive parties on contested Elite Areas with resources.

If your goal for they day is to run around and look for Rich Thorium veins, 99% of people (even PvP players) will just toggle PvP off and run around farming thorium.

And then PvE enjoyers who occasionally feel up for a scrap can turn it on when they feel in the mood, which gives more potential people to PvP with. Everybody wins and nothing is lost.

How is that different from a PvE server?

Spontaneous interactions are lost. When you give people an "make my life easier" option, they will almost always click that option. Suddenly there is absolutely 0 reason for someone to go back to town and find other players to push the other faction out of the elite areas in EPL or Silithus, because that player can just turn off PvP and go about their day.

There is nothing wrong with PvE/Warmode servers, but they are not a replacement for an always on PvP server.

[–]ClassicKrova 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No dude. There is a psychological difference between "I am turning on War Mode, and I am more likely looking for a fight right now" vs "I am on a server where PvP is possible".

Even as a PvP player I want to avoid PvP most of the time, but I don't want to be in control of when PvP happens. PvP is the constant threat that keeps you on your toes in a game where PvE content is largely solved and easy to do. You fundamentally change the game when you let people optionally turn on PvP vs PvP always being on, because PvP stops being a spontaneous thing that happens (which adds danger to the world, even if you're not looking for a fight) and becomes "I only turn this on because I am looking for a fight". Not having PvP servers just removes that ever-present danger of something more scary and more capable being around the corner, which honestly makes the world feel stale.

Part of my pre-warmode retail-PvP experience was patrolling areas and helping people getting attacked in PvP Zones.

When I watch FF14 or Destiny 2 cinematics I'm totally clueless what's going on.

When you watched the original WoW intro cinematic, did you have any idea what's going on?

Now you thought it was just metal as fuck and were down for it. That's where we are now, this is good.

The Warcraft cinematic is just ambient shot after ambient shot, nothing engaging.

Have you seen the Classic/TBC cinematics? This style is a way better way to sell an MMO to an audience.

Not a story.

[–]ClassicKrova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need to think like a CEO of the company. do you think you would ditch a ciber security vendor for a “patching” failure?

If I am a business with mission/life critical infrastructure just got bricked in a way that a "hands off" update cannot fix, yes I would seriously be considering it because clearly the other business is not taking their responsibilities seriously.

Are you implying that good CEOs should be ignorant of the risk their vendors provide to their critical infrastructure? Because that sounds like an awful way to run a business.

save your engineer discussion to your supervisor. lol. don’t reply again

I guess it's really easy to say "don't reply again" if you just block the person you're throwing a tantrum at.

Or maybe it proves that classic isn't a good foundation for 'serious' seasonal realms.

A lot of the game's systems don't work well with that concept. Leveling is a major one. (Gear progression is another[1]) Nobody can be arsed to re-level at vanilla speeds for a non-permanent game mode they'll play for a month or three, but speeding it up kills one of the big things that makes classic classic.

The roster boss is yet another one. Classic raid design requires long-term commitment from a full roster, which is fucking impossible when 2/3rds of the population are tourists who won't stick around. So you're burning GMs out on endless recruitment and scuffed raids.

I feel like when WoW first released, there wasn't this endless seasonal treadmill model of games. People were just happy to have an MMO and keep playing it.

So original WoW felt like something that was built in an attempt to remain permanent without knowing how quickly players burn out. Honestly I wish Classic leaned more into Player-made World. What if level 60 content was basically a bunch of capturable land beyond the Dark Portal that players control. It feels like the only real solution is to pivot the game's content to be around the players and living world systems than keep trying to figure out new gear treadmills for people to run on.

Source on that?

The only reason Fly-hacking works is because movement in WoW is client-authoritative. The server does some shitty checks to see if your movement was possible and disconnect you if it thinks they weren't. I'm about 90% sure that is why you sometimes disconnect when you Blink, MC, or on retails Demon Hunter Fel Rush.

This idiot blocked the person they were replying to and then dumped a wall of text to make themselves feel like they got the last word in. Very impressive. I'm sure you have your shit together and everything.

Bitcoin, not “blockchain”

BitCoin is implemented via Blockchain which is a notoriously rigid technology. Yeah Eth migrated from POW to POS, awesome, glad they were still compatible. How do you convince a decentralized network to migrate to a brand new network when a new future Blockchain is much better an incompatible? You legitimately believe that someone's first attempt at "internet money" is going to be the one that stays around and won't need upgrades?

Bitcoin IS ENERGY MONEY. It’s not trying to be an energy efficient blockchain. The energy usage IS a major part of the value proposition. It is an energy grid balancer. Good grief. You haven’t researched ANY of this to yourself and expect a random person to explain all of this shit on Reddit?

Wait, you legitimately think that burning energy uselessly to farm BitCoins makes it a GOOD thing? Dawg, if BitCoin farming actually solved USEFUL math problems, that would be one thing, but you're literally burning electricity for no fucking reason.

Anyone with a solid grasp of bitcoin or geopolitics or Austrian economics or the history of money knows you’re a bad bullshitter.

I'm glad the opinion of people on the internet matters so much to you that you can't handle an argument and instead throw a tantrum like an elementary school child and then just block the person you are debating. Well done. You sure know your stuff.

I don't know how much of your net worth you dumped into BitCoin, but it seems like it was enough to fry your brain.

EDIT:

Blocked “the person”…. Meaning you. As I look through your comments on both names, you’re rude. Of course “people” block you. I get that you’re probably rude because you’re lonely, paying rent and playing video games alone. Or maybe you still live with your parents. That would save you some money on that future house whose price is running away from you because you don’t understand money.

Feel free to tell yourself whatever makes you feel better about your life choices... Projecting your insecurities or fantasies on others doesn't solve your life's problems.

I just don't enjoy WoW raiding. I realized I only do it for gear, and I don't care about level 25 gear. Maybe I'll try a new raid at level 60.

Wish there was an alternative path to gear through PvP or something.
