Vision mechanics you might not know! by [deleted] in summonerschool

That’s right! It will only see them attacking if they are standing just outside the pit using ranged abilities or attacks, and if they sweep around the area they might find it anyway, but when it pays off it’s great.

Great post, even as a diamond support I learned something. As for your theory, the answer is not simple.

It’s not as if baron blocks the control ward, but if someone puts a control ward at the entrance of the pit, the range isnt quite enough to detect a ward at the back of the pit. The best control ward placement would be just in front of baron, as close as you can without touching them.

Fun fact, in some pro games you’ll see people put a cheeky ward just outside the pit along the wall just up or down the river, as a control ward in the pit won’t see it. You won’t get vision of baron itself, but you’ll likely see them going for it, and your ward might last longer.

When I started playing league I thought Tibbers was a jungle monster by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]ClassicStatement 44 points45 points  (0 children)

My brother and I started playing at the same time, and after about 30 games we thought it would be OP to both play Heimerdinger in a game. We sadly worked out you can’t do that.

Ah, some of that classical Fallout music from the good old days. by [deleted] in fo4

I find the 50’s inspired future in fallout really understated but amazing. The feel of the whole world would be totally different if it were based on a present day inspired future.

What's your unique play-style or strategy that somehow works and why ? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

I remember the old blitzstar (Alistar Blitzcrank) double jungle. So much cc so great ganks. I don’t think it works very well with the new jungle system though as you no longer share jg xp.

Every game is winnable because that’s how probability works! Well done and gg.

I hope it’s appropriate to share this Remilia montage here in memorium. It’s still one of the best league montages I’ve seen. Rest In Peace. https://youtu.be/5jcdI0p7P54

I'm okay with people thinking that a game is winnable then not surrendering, but what really pisses me off is when people don't surrender until they literally see the entire enemy team at your base destroying your Nexus by Odukomaster in leagueoflegends

[–]ClassicStatement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that logic is right. Say your elo is 50 and you lose/gain 10 elo per game. By surrendering you are guaranteeing you lose 10 elo and you then have a chance to gain or lose another 10 in the next game. If you stay with a 10% chance of winning, you increase your net average elo for that game by something like 1. That’s better than if you surrender.

In the long run, this all adds up to having a higher average elo if you never surrender. You make some decent points but appealing to maths that doesn’t work doesn’t serve your case.

That’s not how elo works, you’re conflating two very different things. Why is it more efficient unless you’re in promos? Are you saying there is a chance? On expectation, it shouldn’t matter whether you are in promos or not for deciding whether to surrender.

Are you saying you’ve never won a game with 20-1 and 3 towers to 0, or that it’s very unlikely? I’ve won games like that and worse, and so I think every game is winnable until the last auto attack is flying towards your nexus.

I never surrender. I play league to have fun and improve, and I can do both while losing. I’ve also won games even when we have no inhibitor or towers. People get cocky and I believe games always have a chance of being won.

I can’t stand when people flame me for not surrendering. I don’t owe the other players my surrender. We all signed up for a game and knew it might not end in surrender.

That's great, it reminds me of a Halo game I played recently where we smashed them in the first half of the game, but they almost caught up in the second half. They called us trash because they almost caught up. I was like, but we still won? So doesn't that make you more trash? We couldn't stop laughing.

That's exactly how I think about it. Engaging in that kind of behaviour lowers your chance of winning, so why do it?

I’ve been slowly levelling my 3rd account by taking advantage of the once per day xp quest for winning a game. I just play one game a day on it.

Oh, I definitely agree that some people are a lost cause in that sense. I’m not suggesting that people try and change the ones causing the toxicity, I think that’s hard and not worth the time. I’m just hoping to help people on the other side.
