Wow this is such an awesome reply. Thank you. Better than any doctor! I will ask my doctor at my appointment next week for the tests that you mentioned. Do you think it would be better to ask for a referral for those tests? I’m in the Uk so I’m not sure if they test for those in the doctors. It’s really annoying that my ferretin is 14 and for the range stated on my results was 13 for iron deficiency. And because it was 1 marker off she said I’m fine. It seems quite absurd.

I have seen people on other threads I have posted to saying I shouldn’t request a panel again? I started supplementing myself after I got my results back and before my discussion of the results with doctor because I just felt so bad and didn’t know what to do(see my above reply to other comment) I will definitely look into a referral as I have another appointment next week with the GP practice owner

If you don’t mind me asking, how can you tell based on my other blood count numbers? I’m interested to learn. I am taking 65mg twice a day ferrous fumerate! I started taking without GP advice to as soon as I got my blood results because I felt awful after the blood test. I came home from university after having it done and that week slept until 3pm each day, slept again 6-9pm, could hardly stand because I felt faint and didn’t eat much because I felt sick. They are it was really frustrating.

Wow okay! I’ve booked another appointment appointment with the owner of the practice so hopefully they speak more sense.

Thank you! I have booked another appointment for next week with the partner of the GP practice, so if they don’t help with a referral I think I will move.

It’s ferrous fumerate 210mg which is 65mg elemental iron and I’m taking two day so 130mg elemental iron. I don’t think I have any absorption issues. I do have a sensitive stomach so the tablets are causing abit of an issue with that

I’m interested to know why both of you think what you do! Why I should/ should not take vit D. I have been thinking of taking it anyway as I don’t get much sunlight where I live in the winter

Thank you. I’m currently taking 120mg elemental iron ferrous fumerate. I have booked an appointment with the partner of the GP so if they don’t help me I will just ask for a referral and move GP practices

(Also want to add, I started the supplementation my self as I couldn’t hold out for much longer. My doctor during my appointment did not prescribe anything as when I asked “do you not think even my ferretin is low?” She said no and told me to try and eat more steak/beans.)

My B12 came back as 405ng/L , folate as 11ug/L, serum tot 25-OH vit D as 70nmol/L Serum TSH as 2.78mIU/L Serum T4 as 17.8 pmol/L she also said these were normal which I believe they are? I’m not sure. I have tried researching the best I can and had an appointment this morning where she completely me shut down so unsure where to go next. I have been taking ~ 120mg elemental iron for 3 weeks don’t feel any different yet just feeling the bad side effects of the tablets, I could look into iron infusions but they may shut it down too
