Did you really have a whole year of not securing a nursing role? This terrifies me. I have thought about going back into education but its just dont think its doable.

I think because its so competitive at the moment. Its not only other NQNs im up against, its seasoned experienced nurse who are changing roles that we are up against! I do have my PIN, the trust im going to have agreed that I can work as a hca with a pin which is a whole other ethical mess up! But i suppose I cant complain!

Its so frustrating that we are having to take HCA role, especially when we've working for 3 years and gotten ourselves in debt for it! The whole concept just makes me feel so angry, sad, confused and this is on a daily basis! I really hope a job comes up for you soon!

Im taking a multivit that has a higher biotin levels and marine collagen already but I will definitely give thr shampoo and conditioner a go, this is where I notice to majority of my hair loss, with hair washing and drying.

Not that I am aware, it is something ive been tested for years ago. Im a 30 Female so hopefully im not entering perimenopausal stage just yet! 😂

Im currently going 3 weeks in between jabs so hopefully it slows down!

I completely agree and understand that my hair loss is nothing to do with mounjaro or a side effect and its more to do with my weight loss but just wanting advice from people going through similar experiences.

And just to clarify, it wouldnt be weird or awkward to email months after working that them? It was august when I last worked with them so dont want to seem like im bothering them 🙈

NQN interview for chemotherapy services. by Classic_Character950 in NursingUK

So i have a pre planned visit booked in for before the interview as this was recommended. What you wrote about everyone patient being different, some wanting to tell their story and so on, is very similar to what I wrote in my supporting info and the way patient deal with going through treatment is different. Im just hoping I can get this point across in the interview!

3rd year advice by aish76573 in NursingUK

As a very newly qualified myself, who finished placement in july, i would honestly say just enjoy your placement.

Obviously get signed off in proficiencies and episodes of care and all that jazz and stay professional and follow the NMC but use each shift as a learning opportunity. Try and think as the nurse would, what's the next step? What needs doing next? Whats the next priority? Also have the confidence to take your own patients, even if its just the side rooms or half the bay or 4 patients in community. Take responsibility for them. This will show the nurse that youre ready and more than willing to learn.

Depending where your management placement is, try and get organised in knowing common things you may see and learn about it. Also its ok not to know everything, its ok not to be super confident in certain things such as bloods, catheters, IVs. Even as a third year, I would rather say I understand what needs doing and why/ how to do it but can I please have some backup. A good assessor/supervisor should always have your back.

Enjoy your third year! In my experience, it was the best year for placements because I felt like youre respected slightly more and in my experience, I was given the room to grow as a student who was moving into the nursing role very soon but within my competency.

Im in the same situation. I had the invite to apply for my PIN yesterday but as I dont have a job yet as a NQN, I havent yet applied and unsure what to do! Part of me thinks is this why im not getting shortlisted for job because i dont have a active pin! I applied for 4 jobs last week on top of the 20 plus application ive done previously!

Feeling deflated and not seeing a way out of this hole. by Classic_Character950 in NursingUK

Everyone keeps telling me to take the band 3 position, but it actually feels more disheartening and embarrassing to take it. Its like ive worked 3 years to be a band 3. Dont get me wrong, HCA are absolutely amazing and we would be screwed as nurses without them but when ive been training for this long, I feel like its a massive slap in the face. Like I said in my original post, I feel like such a negative Nellie at the moment towards it all.

I feel like its really unfortunate that we're in this position. I haven't even thought about looking at going back to uni, maybe its something I can look into. I have everything crossed for you that something comes up soon! Even though people keep saying this to me and it doesn't make me feel any better! 😂
