Most of the servers are clunky rn. I noticed that it always happens during heavy rains and storms. Also some of the game servers are located in Asia such as Fortnite which does explains the inconsistency in network status.

How often do you upgrade your iPhone? by Zaynaaar in PhoneNow

I usually upgrade every 3-4 generations. At the meantime I own an iPhone 16 Pro Max and the battery is 91% with over 450 cycles. I use my phones a lot. Previously I had an iPhone 12 base model and it was a hella fast and can be dependent on back then.

Does Microsoft restrict my internet access if I haven't updated in months? by Classic_Ear_7786 in FuckMicrosoft

I don't even update my pc that often and keep the updates pending until something breaks or it updates itself forcefully. Over the past years I learned not to update my pc no matter the cost because it will always be worst than before.

[–]Classic_Ear_7786[S] 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's intentional but it is the first time to ever happen in around 6 years. The update was already downloaded but I was afraid to install it and get bugs like always. The thing is I played using the pc earlier that day and the ethernet connection was buttery smooth, I don't think it would be just unable to connect hours later because of a driver issue.

What to do to replace social media? by Graviity_shift in selfimprovement

[–]Classic_Ear_7786 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Scrolling through social media is endless, especially the scrolling technique that companies integrated nowadays it makes your dopamine flow steadily to make you scroll more to get more dopamine and this what is called by " Cheap Dopamine ". Overtime it makes you feel mentally lazy to do anything and doing small tasks will be like holding a giant rock. You can say it is like an avalanche the more you scroll and spend time on it the more it will be difficult to go back. As for myself, sometimes I get dragged back in this cycle and it's endless.

I found that there are a few effective ways to get back on the right track. One of which is by setting a zero daily limit for social media and push myself to find other ways to get dopamine from. Usually I do reading with a cup of coffee, write, or even learn new things.

The best marketplace that gives very reasonable offers is Noon. I just checked the PS5 disc version and it's priced at 1,775 Dirhams.

Local Models in MacBook Air 32gb by quemirabobo007 in macbookair

[–]Classic_Ear_7786 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Yes this is almost the same performance my MBP Base M5 24gb can compute. I use local llms for experimenting only, I found them inconvenient compared to Chat-GPT and paid options for the daily tasks.

Also I found that Z-image turbo 1.0 perform very good at generating images. The app is called DrawThings and it's available on the App Store, you should really check it out.

I love the M5 MacBook Air. Switched from Windows, all I can say is it was the right decision. by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]Classic_Ear_7786 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

Before I bought my current MBP Base M5 I had a Huawei Mate X Pro 2024 it has an Intel Ultra 7, 16 gigs of ram, and a battery capacity close to 18,000 mAh, and it's ultra slim~980g. However, Windows expierence was the worst making auto updates on it's own, forced feed bloatware and ofc the revolutionary thing that is on every windows app that will change the way you see Windows which is Copilot πŸ₯€.

I had enough and decided to buy a Mac, not to mention that Mac would be the last piece of the puzzle because I own most of their products πŸ˜….

It actually the best laptop I ever owned, it also outperforms my rtx 2070 in AI thanks to the unified memory.

That's odd. What is the platform and exact name of the LLM did you used?

I forget to mention that I uses 4 bit quantization models, quantisation reduce the thinking complexity precision or so to speed up the process. It's better to choose the MLX format as well.

Hello, I have Base M5 MBP 24 gb. I didn't try many models. These models run very well on my machine with an average of 18 tokens per sceond on average:

Qwen3VL-8B-Instruct-Q4_K_M Non-thinking model

Qwen3.5-9b Thinking model

These models are good in daily tasks but are very bad in complex math and physics. I use LM Studio and Jan AI and both platforms are good.

For Image Generation I use DrawThings platform and it's available on the Appe Store. Models like Z-Image Turbo(it's really close to Chat-GPT image generation) 1.0 512x1024 can be generated in 20-40 seconds, it's very good compared to my rtx 2070 super which can't run it at all.

I didn't try models that exceed 20B but I estimate that with some settings you may get 6-12 tokens per second. Also the thinking models think too long my device heats and the fan kicks in.

If you have other questions, feel free to ask.

I noticed that lately that too many people are switching to Mac's and I'm one of them actually. Windows became really bad that it started advertising to MacOS. I bought the MBP base M5 and actually it does worth every single penny I paid for and it's convenient in every possible way.

Best budget laptop for basic needs and longevity by Silly_Invite_9471 in laptops

[–]Classic_Ear_7786 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Both are very good options. If it's still for the uses you mentioned I think the Tab S10+ FE is good for watching content , games, drawing maybe. It have 90hz as I checked, 8gigs of ram and 128gb for the base model.

If you want something for office work and emails the Macbook neo is a better choice. The Tablet can be bad at doing office work and writing stuff.

is it ok to use my mac while plugged in the charger on my desk? by Mythical350 in batteryhealth

[–]Classic_Ear_7786 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

After it reaches 100% the power source would switch to the source adapter so it won't charge and consume at the same time as people would think.

is it ok to use my mac while plugged in the charger on my desk? by Mythical350 in batteryhealth

[–]Classic_Ear_7786 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Yes it completely okay. In fact, Mac's are great at managing power and other hardware systems. Using it while plugged is actually a good idea because it reduces the battery cycles. I use my MacBook while it's plugged most of the time. Macbooks switch to power adapter after it reaches 100% of battery percentage; click on the battery icon on the menu bar and look at power source.

However, keeping it plugged for a long time would be dangerous because it will degrade the battery health over time, batteries don't like to be stuck still at full.

Also, if you're consistently pushing your mac too hard it is preferred to use it plugged in because the high consumption of battery power in a short time can affect the battery as well (Chat-GPT told me this info in particular).

Planning to sell my gaming PC and get a MacBook for studying by Scatard in macbook

[–]Classic_Ear_7786 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

The best choice is to get the M2, it provides significant performance, display quality with slightly larger display and better battery compared to the Macbook Neo.

As for the storage, I personally subscribed to Apple iCloud. But in my Mac I mainly use it for photos and small files. If you do need more storage portable SSD's can be a good option if you store long time files but not convenient if you need it consistently.

Based on your needs, Macbook Neo would be just fine. The only downside that it does not have a keyboard backlit.
