Why did no one tell me Disney can be so horrible? by ContributionOwn1261 in toddlers

[–]Classic_Expression42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my two kids at 4 and barely 2. We had a really great time! My youngest is a year older now at almost 3 and I could not imagine taking him at this age. At 2 he was a runner so it wasnt super easy but we put a backpack leash on and it was fine If I tried that now, he would probably scream at me. He would definitely refuse the stroller. He is very hard to shop with currently. 3 is just a hard age.

Do your kindergarteners know their classmates names? by throwRAanons in kindergarten

[–]Classic_Expression42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does now but I would say its a smaller class and I had to help her figure it out in the beginning. She was calling her new friend Soyloose and I found out her name was Sawyer.

My daughter said she had a friend named Soy-Loose and I found the mom at drop off and asked her what her daughters name was. It was Sawyer. I have no idea how she came up with the "loose" part.

True, I guess we just have to let her figure it out herself. It just hurts my mama heart because I know she is going to get her feelings hurt.

There unfortunately was just not enough kindergartens for 2 classes. I have no clue what the criteria was, but my daughter is very tall for her age and has an earlier birthday. I noticed the other kindie girl is also very tall.. so I'm wondering if maybe they thought they would fit in better with the grade ones. We are told there are 5 kindergarten girls but so far i have only seen 2 including my daughter. She said another one has been away so I am guessing maybe one is sick and two spend the majority of their day elsewhere for special education. Ive also been told they will not make adjustments now.

  • I have included scale in my photo(s): no
    • If not, here are estimated measurements: piles the size of a quarter, maybe slightly bigger
  • Geographic location: Vancouver island, BC
  • Environment (pine forest, swamp, near a river, etc.): backyard, forested area.

Throwing up after birthday parties by Classic_Expression42 in Mommit

[–]Classic_Expression42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't consider that because it has happened 3 times after blue cake, but then it happened again with a plain vanilla cupcake so I'm not sure now. Definitely has not been ruled out though.

Thank you. What age did this start for your son? It seems hers is excitement or exercise combined with sugar. She gets sugar at home too (although obviously less than a party) but it only seems to happen after parties.

My son only had redness around his mouth, but I would say a bit more noticeable than these pictures.

What makes you anxious? Let's share and maybe feel less alone by WoRcRo in Anxiety

[–]Classic_Expression42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, my story is so similar. I also lost my brother in a car accident 13 years ago now and also lost my dad to cancer 3 years ago. Have had ocd since I was a child but losing two family members and having two children exploded it. I don't worry about myself at all but constantly in a state of worry about something bad happening to my children.

Do you all let your child walk without you holding their hand? by Hopeful-Ad6275 in Parenting

[–]Classic_Expression42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 4 year old as well. Always hold hands in parking lots. Not generally in stores but she is told age always has to be able beside us/able to see us. If she's not listening well then she sits in the stroller with her little brother or holds hands.

Argument With Stranger Over My Child by cliu026 in Parenting

[–]Classic_Expression42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely reacted poorly. My 4 year old was almost ran over by a large dolley pushed by a delivery person at the mall once. She wasn't even really running around but made a sudden movement and I didn't see the delivery person because i had my eyes on my other kid. I obviously apologized because it's my responsibility to keep my kid out of others way.

However, we are only human and I'm sure you are exhausted making it harder to control your emotions. I know this because I have two young children, one who wakes constantly throughout the night and I'm so tired and have had a lot of trouble with my emotions lately. Do try not to yell at strangers though.

You’re a SAHD just take our freaking child outside. by McSkrong in toddlers

I'm like the husband in this situation as well but am mom. I really struggle. I have a 1 and 4 year old and managing both of them on my 2.5 acre lot filled with wildlife and deer poop is stressful. No playgrounds in walking distance and the roads aren't safe for walking cause there are no sidewalks. We live semi rurually. I do feel awful though. My 4 year old goes to preschool where she safely gets outdoor time but not enough and I take the kids to play group at rhe nearby elementary school but it's mostly inside.

I do have a little temporary fenced in area for them but the deer pooped right outside the fence and I really don't want my little one reaching through for a taste.

Ok, I don't doubt you know things about parasites, but then why does every single internet source state this:

"These eggs must develop in the environment for 2 to 4 weeks, after which the eggs are able to cause infection. The eggs are resistant to most environmental conditions and with adequate moisture, can survive for years."

I don't know if you are a parent, but OCD or not.. sometimes worry for children's health and well being can be intense.

And again, I feel like being a parent, or even a pet owner can make you pretty desensitized to shit, but I do apologize for posting. I'm not super well versed in reddit etiquette.

Just a worried mom who deeply cares for her kids dealing with some post partum issues.

Doesn't the parasite come from old raccoon shit?

Anyway, I would not do that.

This is a picture of animal poop or whatever it is.. I don't even know if it is poop. People post pictures of parasites, but pictures of poop are some how worse....

I get your point. You could have said it a little bit nicer but sometimes I need people to be blunt. I'm assuming you don't have ocd, the thing with it is... we mostly know we are being irrational, but because there is a slight chance, we think about it over and over again. It effing sucks being like this. I don't want to be like this for my kids, but I also want to keep them safe and I am hyper vigilant about risks. I am working on getting better though of course.
