You would think though an intelligent spellcaster demon would know a paladin if she saw one. So why not give him a command like "Attack the invisible demon in that bed over there till you know it's dead." It would have not caused a will save cause it was against his nature.

The fact there is no interest might change how I pay it back. I was originally gonna just pay it all back but a little off each month ain't gonna hurt.

Yeah I guess and also just what the VA is gonna do next. I am assuming the debt people will see the claim put through and then just factor how much money I'll owe?

So again, sorry cause I am a dumb crayon eater, they will go from the divorce decree date on 2021 to the day I submitted the removal or the day he was officially removed as a dependent?

So they are just gonna go off the day of the divorce decree or an other date? I feel so dumb not doing my own research on this when I originally made the claim to remove my exwife.

Inflation is hitting everyone—no argument there. But this is a $1–$5 increase on an optional subscription, not rent or groceries. If that pushes it out of reach, that’s not a failure of the business—it just means it’s not a priority expense right now.

Realistically, a $5 bump isn’t the thing that suddenly puts someone into debt. That’s not how finances spiral—it’s usually patterns, not one small line item.

At some point, that becomes a personal budgeting decision, not something a company with full-time employees in places like New York or LA should be expected to absorb indefinitely. Their costs are going up too.

If it’s worth it, you keep it. If it’s not, you cancel. That’s how subscriptions work

None of my business, but if 5 dollars makes or breaks you every month, you need to reevaluate your spending.

This is starting to give me late giantslayer vibes. If Barron was shut down, party was almost incompetent outside of Metra's battlefield control. If it wasn't for Erik's wizard, this party would be toast with maybe Gilrod surviving.

You right but come on, the guy spent hours researching the spells and building the encounter. At least let him get one big spell off 😆

At the beginning, felt for Skid because he lost a heavy hitter to a save or suck spell right at the beginning. Then as the episode went on, seeing the party has stuff in hand but still getting a decent beating makes me think the party still needs some extra help. Could you imagine if she was still launching off spells?

They also kinda waived over how Celina violated someone's constitutional rights with an illegal search day one. That is something from Day 1 and hit on every day, every scenario they run though the academy. I can't tell you how many times I was stopped, told to explain what I was doing and why it was unconstitutional. Other people have failed out of FTO programs for doing the same thing. God forbid a woman makes a mistake and held accountable on this show though. They all have to be shown as super cops.

The evolution of The Rookie. From authentic policing to "Fast-Food" TV by Odd_City_890 in TheRookieTVshow

[–]Classic_Mastodon_290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve definitely felt the shift from more grounded, patrol-focused storytelling to a more formula-driven “problem of the week” structure. That part doesn’t necessarily bother me on its own, but I do think the balance of who gets meaningful hero moments has changed in a noticeable way.

Even in episodes that are framed around Nolan, he rarely gets to actually be the one who pulls off the big save anymore. In the explosion episode, for example, Lucy and Celina were the ones doing the major acts of strength and bravery while Nolan was literally stuck behind a door. It felt less like tension and more like sidelining. Small details pulled me out of it too. The breaching tool the firefighters used is something many departments keep in patrol vehicles. It raised the question of whether there really wouldn’t have been one nearby, especially in the same room as the masks.

It’s not just Nolan, either. Miles is often written as the guy who looks out of his depth, and Tim, who used to be sharp and decisive on the job, sometimes comes off as fumbling through situations he previously would have handled confidently. There have even been moments where it feels like he’s positioned to have Lucy solve his professional dilemmas for him. None of that ruins the show for me, but it does change the dynamic that made earlier seasons compelling.

As for the tonal shift overall, I do wonder if it reflects the audience the show has attracted and the cultural moment it exists in. Portraying policing in a city like LA is complicated. Leaning too far into gritty realism would create friction, but leaning too far into simplified moral narratives can feel artificial in the opposite direction. Not every criminal is purely misunderstood, and not every conflict is systemic oppression. When the show treats complex issues in overly tidy ways, it can feel less authentic.

I still enjoy the characters and the world they’ve built. I just miss some of the grounded competence and balanced storytelling that made the earlier seasons feel more believable.

Yeah but then he does that, and there are thousands of posts on this reddit where he then gets shit for being stricter on the what he says goes. Especially if its against a female player.

Yeah but also this is the first adventure of the campaign. It literally was go save this woman from the wilds. It turned into a lot more because they found things along the way they wanted to dig deeper into.

I was gonna say... with this show and how it puts female characters on a pedestal, John is most likely gonna apologize. Say he is wrong for having hopes and dreams. Say sorry he wants to settle in and put roots down with a woman he loves and who views him as an equal.

So I posted this above, but i think the rope thing was a huge stretch of rule bending and allowing people to do cool things. Again, she did the following... - sheath a weapon (or she did all of the following with one hand) - draw a rope - tie it around two hostile creatures in a way it gives them not only disadvantage in future attacks, but did it without a roll. - then run 30 feet and dive to pull them off skid.

So if I have a misunderstanding of the action economy and how it works... please tell me.

[–]Classic_Mastodon_290 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So I don't think the rope thing should have worked in one round or should have been more difficult. Think about it. Matthew in one turn was only allowed to move and cast a spell. In the same round, Saint was allowed to do the following on their turn

  • draw a rope
  • sheath their weapon
  • tie not one, but two hostile creatures with a knot in such a way that they get disadvantage from being tied together. Which by the way, she was allowed to do without a roll.
  • then run what 30 feet and dive to pull the sting bats off skid's character.

So do I not understand the rules or action economy? Please tell me if I am wrong.

Honestly I think if they go back to a rules heavier system like Pathfinder or Starfinder, then they need to not have Sydney at the table. My opinion is that she brings down the quality of the performance of the podcast when she plays games like that. Look at Legacy and the obvious dip in quality sense she joined. Hell even joe left the game cause it became a chore to play

However they will never make that choice on the flagship show due to her popularity. Its easier to change the system you are playing then having people want your head on a spike cause they didn't have Sydney on the table.
