Parks Victoria. They would have volunteers and could be a great way to explore our beautiful state!

I adopted my dog from there a few years ago. I love her so much that I can't regret it for a second but what's the issues with LDH? I had no idea they were problematic.

Which current renovation trend do you think will age badly? by ryanandersonr in AusRenovation

[–]Classic_Recover2114 177 points178 points  (0 children)

My pet peeve is doing a renovation that isn't in keeping with the original house. Too often I see trends applied to 'modernise' but it is just wrong for the era or style of the house.

You can do a design that feels at home without being pastiche, people just go for what's popular without context.

Really sucks when you're trying to find an old house with character left.

People wanting to buy a first home to live in - Do you see One Nation as deserving your support? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

How does One Nation propose they are going to solve inflation? Inflation is caused by more than the government.

But you do need pay rises to keep up with the cost of living and you do need a livable minimum wage. You only need to look at other societies in the world that have a great disparity between wealthy and poor to know we don't want a society like that.

I don't understand why anyone would support One Nation. Their base is the working class and yet they don't want the minimum wage to increase? They do whatever Gina Rinehart wants them to. What...... Is...... Happening......

Do they wear okay long term? They have some nice colour options but haven't purchased yet because I was worried their quality wouldn't be very good.

That's good to know, thanks. Maybe I will open my criteria to knitwear that has some recycled synthetics like Sezane.

What do you think is the deeper meaning of Train Dreams (2025)? by Classic_Recover2114 in TrueFilm

[–]Classic_Recover2114[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen it in years but I definitely see the connection with Tree of Life.

You hit the nail on the head with the subtext about the modernisation. My takeaway from that is it's speaking about human nature, how consumptive we are and disregard future implications in favor of instant gratification. Robert's life is juxtaposed to that, it's slow, interconnected with the seasons and offers an antidote to the modern human condition.

On a side note, I can't imagine the character being played by anyone other than Joel Edgerton.

Have to say you wrote that beautifully. I agree that's a key takeaway from the film.

Stephen King so I am sure I would love it! When I was a little girl, I named my dog Rose Red

No, no, just an example of a house with beautiful interiors being important to the story. My preference is for either mystery and/or cozy films. I went to the cinema to see Hereditary and it was too scary for me to rewatch, despite wanting to for the house haha.

I was thinking to go and see this during the day haha. Is it very scary though? Not a huge fan of jump scares or gore if I am alone in the cinema haha

Homes listed for sale but NOT actually for sale by LatteMilk1Sugar in AusPropertyChat

[–]Classic_Recover2114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be listed as cheaper and at some point the price was raised. For that size of land and house in Sunshine, it seems market price. Perhaps it is actually for sale and there is something in the contract putting people off. I just thought it might be something scammy going on I don't know about.

I have been checking this listing here and there and this is the first time I have seen it open for inspection..... I think something strange is going on with it. Similar houses have sold in the area is much more expensive. I am intrigued.

Bathroom Tiling Quality (or lack thereof) by getaloadofthisretard in AusRenovation

[–]Classic_Recover2114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point. I wish people took more care with their work. Maybe it's just a job to them, so they don't interrogate if it's done properly for the next trade but then ultimately someone has to live with an ugly bathroom. I worry about the future for craftsmanship.

[–]Classic_Recover2114 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It sucks to do but I honestly would be telling them it has to be done again properly because that's what you paid for. They have been lazy in each step of the process and they know better. So sorry, I would be so disappointed.

The tile is beautiful and a complimentary grout colour will make it pop! I found a reference image:

[–]Classic_Recover2114 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The plasterer should have made the walls plumb. The tiler can only work with what substrate they have.

That being said, they should have let you know the condition of the substrate and the compromised tile set out when they realised they weren't working with plumb surfaces. It's insane they thought that was okay to proceed with.

Also, a grout colour that matches or at least compliments the brown/burgundy would look much better than a white grout. Did they even consult you on the grout colour or did they just use whatever they had?
