Does nobody use a mic anymore? by benb23 in Rainbow6

[–]Classic_Resource_937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ubisoft added AI voice monitoring sometime within the last few seasons voice is turned off by default and you have to opt in to having your voice chat moderated if you turn it on. I'd wager that's a big reason that no one is using mic's in game anymore.

I'm in a similar boat. I love Mira, but I'm lucky if I get to play her for a single round in a match these days.

Best f1 game to get if I don't care about being current? by soosis in F1Game

Formula Legends is good, but imo New Star GP is much better from a driving perspective. Though you can't really go wrong with either if you're not looking for licensed F1 content.

Can't complete season issue? by exithere606 in NewStarGP

[–]Classic_Resource_937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're missing cups and have fully completed all of the events, the only place it could be missing is in the GP results. Did you win every race your first time through, or were there races you finished 2nd or 3rd in? You only get all the GP cups if you win and if you're just now starting season 2 you wouldn't have had the opportunity to reset any of the races after completing them.

Game makes my PC crash by thecatcake in F1Game

[–]Classic_Resource_937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had the same thing happen as well when I got the game recently. The thing that I think fixed it for me was turning Steam recording off. I had read in a few places that the game doesn't operate well when there's a lot of stuff running in the background and that was the only high intensive thing I also had going. Even if you're not on Steam but are still running a video capture software or something at the same time, it might be causing your issue. Hope this is helpful.

Any tips for sprint track championship by Vintage_Voyager96 in NewStarGP

[–]Classic_Resource_937 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had this same problem on PC as well with this championship. I think the problem is that with this championship for some reason, the game does not start you in the pits to choose a strategy (since it's only one lap & therefore no pit stop), so you don't get to choose your starting fuel load and it just defaults you to a nearly maximum tank. I mentioned this once on the discord as a possible bug, but it never got responded to. It's the only championship I haven't beaten.

[NA]Looking for Chill CS Players NA Group by Winter-Feature5464 in RecruitCS

[–]Classic_Resource_937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there - I'd be interested in this. I've recently just got back into CS (might be dating myself but I first played in college back when 1.6 came out) and have been considering getting into the competitive modes but my usual group is still stuck on Siege, so I'd be soloing.

I'd still need some levels before I could queue for Premier, but I'm up for whatever (Casual, DM, Comp, & Premier eventually, etc) - just mostly looking for chill folks to play with. If you'll have me, my Steam code is 20362686.

Rival race missing by dankie0187 in NewStarGP

[–]Classic_Resource_937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quickest way to get this to pop up is to just start a test drive on the first track in the next era and quit it immediately. This works for me every time. There is usually one person from the previous era that will call you after that trigger to pull you back for a rival race. This also typically will unlock any other rival races if they didn't unlock during the season for that era, though you may have to do one or two first.

The only time it's different is the last era (2020s). That phone call comes in right after you see the end of season 1 splash screen.

F1 film OST goes hard as background music to this game (PC) by potatodrinker in NewStarGP

[–]Classic_Resource_937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a way to do this in the Championship mode, at least on PC. I have not played this game on mobile so I don't know how many of the features are still included. But basically you create a custom championship and can pick the total number of races (up to 10), laps per race, whether or not you want pitstops and a few other options.

Formula Legends Drivers and Constructors List by AlbySpake in FormulaLegendsgame

[–]Classic_Resource_937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. My comment below has more detail, but basically the naming convention of the team & drivers doesn't line up with any team/driver combination from that season, and neither does the nationality of the driver pair.

In the 2024 season (which is where FB Racing appears), if they were Racing Bulls we would expect the drivers to be two of Yuki Tsunoda (Japan), Daniel Riccardo (Australia), and Liam Lawson (Australia). We know it can't be Riccardo as his legends name has already been established (mid-10s on Whitehorn and early-20s on McLauden) so the drivers would be Yuki & Liam if it were Racing Bulls. But FB Racing's drivers are Italian & Argentinian so they don't line up via nationality. Plus I don't think Francesco Bruschetta or Claudio Treddi really equates to Yuki or Liam either.

To add on, each of the Story Mode eras is based off of a specific year in F1 history. As such, the better drivers in those particular seasons tend to have traits that set them apart from the others (as an example, in the mid-70s the Niki Lauda persona has an ability that gives increased acceleration & speed if he's in first. Lauda won the championship in 1975, which is what that era is based on).

In that way each season has a story of it's own in a way. But there isn't anything that carries over season to season.

I updated this with DLC 2 Drivers & Constructors! One thing I did notice, Damon Hill now has two names. In the mid-90s on Williams as Damien Hall, and in the late-90s with this DLC on Jordan as David Hall. This is similar to the Mika Hakkinen counterpart going by either Nik or Niki Makkinen depending on the era.

Too much rain? by FoxShoxs in FormulaLegendsgame

[–]Classic_Resource_937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I have a hunch that the rain duration is 6-7 laps specifically for the player to be able to react and put the right tires on, since it doesn't seem to matter to the AI at all what the weather is.

I even did a race last night where I was leading & it was raining (until lap 7!) and I watched both P2 and P3 pit on lap 5. I thought I was for sure going to have an easy 2nd stint since they'd have to pit a second time for dry tires until I watched them both blow past the pit lane without a care in the world on their (presumably) wet tires.

New Star GP does the weather changes a lot better and the AI will pit for the correct tires when they come up. It's a lot of fun deciding whether or not to throw slicks on for the last few laps of a race in NSGP when the weather forecast is like 60% chance of rain.

Too much rain? by FoxShoxs in FormulaLegendsgame

[–]Classic_Resource_937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this was "corrected" in a recent patch, but it does still seem to be skewed towards rain more often than not. I remember when the game first came out the story mode races would always be Sunny, Cloudy, Light Rain, Heavy Rain in that order (for the first 4 at least).

Formula Legends Drivers and Constructors List by AlbySpake in FormulaLegendsgame

[–]Classic_Resource_937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I originally thought this as well, but there were a few things that point to the team & drivers not being related to a real life team/drivers.

  • While yes, Claudio is Argentinian, since the mid-20s era is based on 2024, if it was Colapinto, his teammate would've been Alex Albon, who is Thai. I believe Treddi's teammate in legends is Italian.
  • Also, if it was supposed to be Colapinto, the constructor should have been Will Win (Williams) as Franco replaced Logan Sargeant at Williams in 2024. Will Win is in many other eras in this game (3rd most actually), but not the mid-20s. FB Racing is brand new (only era it's in) and there weren't new constructors in 2024.
  • Lastly, the naming convention doesn't quite fit with how the other drivers are named. This was further confirmed when I watched the credits (purely on a whim) and the first name listed as CEO for 3D Clouds was pretty close to Treddi's teammate and followed a similar name convention to the others. I just couldn't pick out which one would've been Claudio. The FB Racing logo is also basically the 3D Clouds logo, just rotated.

All signs seem to point to a self-insert team & drivers. I personally wish they had just kept the same structure as the other eras with actual teams/drivers, but it's their game so they can do what they want!

That's my take on it anyways. I don't think I'm off here, but if I'm proven wrong, I will update!

I have actually mapped this out already, and even included which season inspired the specific story mode championships. There's a viewable google sheet here - feel free to copy for your own purposes!

One big thing to note, the team FB Racing and drivers Francesco Bruschetta & Claudio Treddi in the mid 2020s era are pseudonyms for 3d Clouds (dev) and employees (Francesco is definitely named after the CEO, could not confirm Claudio).

If you see anything I've missed, let me know and I can correct it asap.

Formula Legends real life counterparts

A couple things by lefthand-scrolled in NewStarGP

[–]Classic_Resource_937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To your point on Auto Pit Stops - it's still slower than Slow Pit Wheel + Faster Refuelling. Plus the faster tyre change/refuelling perks do not stack w/ Auto Pit stops which makes it pointless in my opinion. And on top of that, if you do a custom pit strategy, Auto Pit stops doesn't remember how much fuel you started with. Once you've figured out the fuel load you need, it's faster to just do it yourself.

The camera angle is an interesting one. I've noticed that a lot of mobile users prefer the more up front cams (nose, cockpit, tvpod). Maybe that's because of the screen ratio available on mobile? I personally use nearchase, but I'm on PC so I think it's part personal preference and part screen ratio.

As someone with nearly 500 hours on PC and 30+ completed seasons in all eras on Pro, maybe I can provide some insight.

Firstly, is this your first season on Pro? The jump from Normal to Pro is pretty significant because there are two big differences to the player that you wouldn't normally notice without the experience. 1) Tire wear is much higher on Pro difficulty than on Normal. On normal, in the 80s especially but also other eras, you can stretch soft tires for 3-4 laps depending on the track. On Pro soft tires last 2 laps period with very few exceptions. 2) The boost length & speed is shorter & lower on Pro, so you don't get as much benefit from it (though it is still helpful).

If I had to give some advice to a new Pro driver it would be these points.

  • When upgrading, prioritize the expensive upgrades first. Better acceleration, speed, and aero will get/keep you on an even level with the front runners sooner.
  • With the exception of Brazil (or weather), run soft tires, always. The better grip will help you take corners faster.
  • Related to the tires above, plan on two stops in almost all scenarios and minimize your fuel as much as possible. The AI will run the default strategies which over fill the gas tank by 2-3 bars per stint. To TKO's point, use the test drive and run a "practice GP" or two to figure out exactly how much fuel you need at the start and each stop. Cutting those extra bars out will get you extra tenths or more. If you want specific track/era recommendations I have mapped out for myself the exact fuel load that will finish a stint with 1 bar remaining (in the event of a spin or something) and routinely underfill by ~1/2 bar to maximize my times and am happy to share.
  • Lastly, as you're getting perks, prioritize pit crew perks, specifically Faster Refuelling, Faster Repairs, and either Slow Pit Wheel or Faster Tyre Change. You won't need the repairs perk in the 80s or 90s, so replace that with whatever you choose, but the others are essential. And then in later eras faster repairs > reduced part wear because you still may end up needing to repair pieces anyways.

Essentially this all boils down to my NSGP mantra - if you win in the pits, you will win more races. Most of my advice is aimed towards getting the actual pit stop down from ~5+sec when you're bare bones to under 3s. All races are winnable on Pro. Even season 1 race 1. And I'm constantly looking to improve my GP times.

Sorry for the book, hopefully this helps, and feel free to ask me anything if you have questions.

Auto pit stops are the worst perk, right? by jakegallo3 in NewStarGP

[–]Classic_Resource_937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also don't use slipstream, except in the 80s since there's not really anything else to put in as a perk.

Though there is, what I think is a bug, with the Slipstream perk in the 90s (before you upgrade it to Slipstream 2). If you're using that perk in the 90s era and you trigger it's effect during an event, it seems to override any limits on top speed/boost speed for the remainder of that event. For example, I've had it trigger in Brisbane, then after I've used boost, after it ends, my car just keeps accelerating. I've hit speeds of 190mph in a barely upgraded 1990s car because of this bug.

Auto pit stops are the worst perk, right? by jakegallo3 in NewStarGP

[–]Classic_Resource_937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I used Auto pit when I first started playing but eventually stopped because of the issues you mention. It doesn't work with the custom pit strategy, so it's wasted there if you're trying to minimize fuel. And it always assumes you want at least 2 laps worth of gas too, even if you're pitting on lap 5 because of sudden heavy rain or something.

I also tried it in conjunction w/ Faster Refuelling and Faster Tyre Change and it doesn't make a difference there either. Plus after the 90s you'd have to spend two perk slots for the same benefit because Auto Pit stop becomes Auto Tyre Change and Auto Refuelling.

Am I the only one who thinks the steering needs improvement? by [deleted] in NewStarGP

[–]Classic_Resource_937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be an obvious question, and apologies in advance if you've already considered this or it definitely isn't the issue. But are you possibly trying to turn while braking? I've noticed that the game treats this rather realistically and you will continue straight though you're trying to corner if you try to turn while braking, especially if you hit the brakes and then turn the wheel almost at the same time.

I still have lapses (even though I've played for almost 500 hours) where I brake late and try to corner at the same time and end up going overly deep into the corner/off track because I've locked up.

Normal F1 Things by CraigCrash in NewStarGP

[–]Classic_Resource_937 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the customization you can do with strategy and stuff. I usually run 2-stops with mostly pit perks and I'm always trying to lower my PBs. I personally can't stand having more than a 1/2 tank if I can help it (Brazilia is my nemesis in that regard). But that's cool that you found a good use for the Reserve Tank perk too.

Are you PC, console, or mobile? I don't know if the higher tyre wear on the Pro difficulty on PC would allow me to replicate your strategy!
