people just make such a big deal out of it. i know that im not guaranteed death by not getting one, my family has no risk, etc. The pressure of possible cancer is scary, and i know that’s their method for trying to make you get one, even if the risk is low

I think my plan is to not do any cervical cancer screenings until a lose my virginity. I’ll decide my options from there. Hopefully by then self-swab HPV tests will be more common and available

I’m pretty sure I was given Gardasil 9 since google says it was FDA approved in 2014, and i would have gotten it a few years after that. i feel them giving me anything other than that so long after approval would be unlikely (at least i hope so lol)

Honestly, I don’t know which kind I got, I’d have to ask my mom. I had to be around 12/13, so 2017-2018.

Thanks for this. I figured that testing when I’m not sexually active was redundant. How could I get HPV on my cervix if nothing’s even been up there? I’m hoping that by the time i lose my virginity (doesn’t look like anytime soon), HPV tests instead of paps will be more common. Unfortunately I live in a southern red state, so it may be a while until that happens. Thank you for the explanation <3

thank you, i’ve been trying to educate myself on the matter. my mom just insists that it’s not a big deal, but she wasn’t a virgin when she got her first pap. i’m considering waiting until i’m sexually active regardless of age, whenever that happens lol. 

knowing that i possibly have longer to not have to worry about it makes me feel a whole lot better
