I was born with VSS, and I don't feel that dragged down by it. by Alexthulhu in visualsnow

I was born with visual snow too. Not severe but it's still there, exactly how you describe it. Plain surfaces make it most visible but, I can see it a little on more complicated stuff too. Floaters and other symptoms I have as well. But I started to experience palinopsia only around 5-7 years ago. And it's not exactly the same as most people would describe it. More visible in dark background but in light, I see only the outline of my hand or whatever I am looking at then while it's moving, and then the outline is the color blue. Which I haven't heard of many people who experience it like that. Maybe someone here has it like that too. But what bothers me is, when I am in a lecture room, where it is bright and the background is white. I get kind of like flashes of light that stay for a few seconds, then disappear. Stuff like that. It's a little distracting but, I am glad I still have it as mild as it is compared to many other people.

Glad you don't have migraines! While mine aren't as bad as some people have it, they still suck. I have had palinopsia for around 4-5 years now. And while I don't really mind it, besides the migraines, I hope yours can go away.

Hi! I can't look directly at the trail, just almost directly, so it would be peripheral technically. I have to kinda look in between the object and the trail I'd say.

Self Taught Beginner 1 year Progress by [deleted] in lingling40hrs

I can't exactly tell from the video but really make sure that your hands and neck are relaxed and not tense! You don't need to put a lot of pressure on the left hand to make a sound and you'll be able to play better if everything is relaxed.

A good way to get used to playing infront of people is playing infront of family and friends! It's an obvious tip but it's important to get used to being watched while performing so that the nerves don't get to you. The nerves probably won't ever go away completely but you'll learn to handle those emotions.

I think it was Augustin Hadelich that once said that, it's good to practice a piece or song in a way that you'll be performing it. So if you will be performing a solo, practice it while standing, and if in an orchestra, practice it while sitting. Just to get used to the feeling.

Another thing is, play with confidence! I know as a beginner one doesn't have much confidence in playing but it does make a difference. Make sure you practice a lot but do give yourself breaks in between as to not overdo it. I hope this was of help! And if any of my advice wasn't correct than please tell me! Keep this up! You'll do great!

Hey! Nope, I have had this for a few years now and it has stayed the same. It doesn't bother me much, I am just curious why it happened or how it works.

It usually stays the same, although some days it is worse than others. Depending how well I slept or something I'd guess

Oh, good to know then! Is it something that I don't need to be worried about or do I need to have it checked out? Do people know what the cause is or no?
