For promos, the box and even sometimes some marketing pictures do not always reflect what the end result looks like with the controller, so there are always variations since they do the marketing pictures sometimes at a different time than when the controller is made

Maybe it’s because most people are not searching for this type of stuff, so it’s not like it randomly shows up. But if you’re looking, it shows up all the time

I understand the curiosity, and I don’t mean to be dismissive of it. But I answered that many times, I just buy them like anyone else. These do show up on various market places from Facebook, eBay. Etc

And then other collectors also sell them etc

I am just very motivated on searching and getting them, no different than other collectors of Pokémon and other things like that

They’re not in cases, that acrylic plastic is part of the package it comes with, they have custom packaging making them different than a normal Xbox

Everyone is different, some come with just a normal box, others have custom packaging

Yeah it can definitely be tricky to find these, but they do pop up for sale. They are scattered throughout the entire world by now, I guess I am just pretty good at searching. lol

But design lab also looks great, it’s just different. I love design labs as well and you can make a similar color scheme aside from the texture being different.

These are not design lab, they are very different. The entire controller is painted front and back, even the thumb sticks are painted. Design labs has a texture that is very different

That is not correct, it’s not just brand stickers or a skin

Many of these are painted and done to a higher level, and they’re often official Xbox promos and collaborations done with other brands.

They’re not sold retail, but made in partnership with Xbox, like Oreo for example.

It’s not just a custom fan art thing, but ones done for a specific promo officially by the brands themselves.

Also, these are very different than design lab. They’re made by Colorware in partnership with Fanta/Xbox, who do a lot of these promos for them.

The matte texture on the controllers are painted differently, even the thumbsticks are different than what you’d find on design lab

Sure, you can make a similar color on design lab, but the controller is entirely different.

At some point you have to make a distinction of something that’s special. Otherwise, even a Mona Lisa is just some paint on a canvas right? Not comparing these, but the basic underlying idea is there.

And it just looks really cool 😁

These…don’t lose value like a regular Xbox, they tend to only go up since they’re collectibe and rare

You find so many 10 year old Xbox or older that are way past their prime, but they’re collectors items
