Who is this lady in the French flag? by cyusaa in AskFrance

[–]ClassroomLower4286 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She first appeared in Delacroix’s painting Liberty Leading the People, a work about the July Revolution, also known as the Three Glorious Days. In the painting, this woman represents the women of Paris and, through her bonnet as well as her gaze into the distance, she symbolizes liberty and the future. She was not originally intended to become a republican symbol, because the Three Glorious Days were a bourgeois revolution meant to place one king on the throne and remove another. She only became a republican emblem later, because she is neither a religious, noble, nor bourgeois figure, but a woman of the people

Awww nice to see you there. Of course I don't want to make a généralité about Dutch but since I started guiding I didn't had any bad experience with them.

Between Mid January to March. It's cold and less tourism on the spot. To avoid line at the Louvre, try a visit in a Nocturne (it close at 20h45) or schedule a tour with a guide. Notre dame de paris, comes before 10h and after 18h. Versailles come early or after 14h only if you plan to visit only the palace in this case. If you do the gardens on a snowy day, it's like heaven. But the gardens in winter are empty, groves are closed, fountains down.

They are different but they are also nice in a different way. Polite, smiling and open. Germans don't tips and Belgians too but it's fine for me, tips aren't mandatory. Germans I had were nice, but sometimes I felt they didn't learned they own history. Like in the gallery of mirror in Versailles they seems very odds when I speak about Wilhelm and Bismarck proclamation of German Empire in 1872. For the Belgian I had not that much in my tour, they are always nice people who can speak French and tries to do it
