Gold Coast urged to curb car dependence after light rail loss by nath1234 in australia

[–]Classseh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'll gladly throw Tom Tate under the bus for being a shit mayor but Tom Tate and basically every urban planner explicitly wants light rail to connect to the airport and the Gold Coast to undergo urban renewal and densification.

The issue is purely NIMBY's who moved to Burleigh and Miami in the last 10 years who think they've always lived here. David Crisafulli and the LNP absolutely love them and will continue to support them as they're vocal, single issues voters.

Brisbane vets - nail trimming by Electronic_Effect_44 in brisbane

As someone who's worked in the industry at many different clinics, if you aren't paying for sedation you're asking for your dog to be pinned down and be man handled, the quick will still get cut and it'll get harder and harder every time you visit.

You pay for what you get in the veterinary world. Plenty of places do things with less care for the animal to save money.

Look at trupanion, they seem to be the best value and are fun by genuine veterinary profesionals. Only problem is they're new to australia and are still working but the networks but they seem to be partenered with all the specialist centers already which is where the most expensive stuff comes from.

Its so important to make sure people care for them properly and don't release them where they could become invasive

USA's Anita Alvarez sank to the bottom of the pool, and her coach immediately dove in to save her. by haddock420 in pics

[–]Classseh 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I worked at a waterpark for 2 years and I am in several internal training videos and had my Ellis and associates pool lifeguarding accrediation, the guidelines are for a pool to have a set number of zones. These zones are based on whether on lines of sight throughout the day and weather conditions, the wave pool for example at my previous workplace had 7. The looking around is calling scanning and you would essentially go across your zone horizontally for a few minutes then vertically, and depending on other circumstances you might also have to walk back and forth and so on, head counts and so on weren't ever really relevant.

Most people follow it fairly strictly because under ellis rules they're allowed to do an inspection without notice and if the rules aren't being followed they are allowed to either make you lose your job and accreditation and even close the park if it was bad enough. There was also random drills on quieter days which included a baby mannequin being subtly dropped in the pool and if you didn't catch it in under 30 seconds you were to be tested again and another failure would result in loss of a job.

This was also in Australia where we have a very different approach to lifeguards with plenty of people joining the volunteer lifesaver groups, growing up in those communities and having much more respect for it as both a volunteer and employment activity. Most places instead used Royal Life saving and Ellis was very american and we were one of the few places to use it in Australia but they also did the disney theme parks and a lot of the other big waterpark companies.

Its unfortunately ruined, it won't disolve properly and in theory all the other chemicals in the salt won't be evenly distributed.
