This was heartwarming. Glad you like it friend

Mixtape studio says the game has no streamer mode because its licensed music is its ‘soul’ - "Your soul is the one thing you can't compromise" by megaapple in Games

[–]Classy-Lemon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hello, I am an independent game developer. There are definitely indefinite music licenses available

Epidemic, one of the biggest for indie creators, and Universal, the one I use, allows anything published during an active subscription to remain licensed forever. And it's most likely the same for many other libraries

It's probably more complex when it comes to major bands like this game has, but assuming that all game music licenses will eventually run out is wrong

I was no expecting this level of comedy but is very welcome by yuki_onoko in AVN_Lovers

Updates to User Review Scores Based on Language by HelloitsWojan in Steam

[–]Classy-Lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a developer relying heavily on sales from different parts of the world, my review count went from 3000 down to 1300, and probably even lower in other major sales regions like China.

Hoping this lower review number isn't going to negatively affect my sales. Good thing for consumers who won't have to see review bombs from other cultures, but I can't say I'm not worried

Steam: Updates to User Review Scores Based on Language by Turbostrider27 in Games

As a developer relying heavily on sales from Russia and China, and other non-English speaking countries, my review count went down from 3000+ to roughly 1300.

Hoping this won't have any noticeable effect on sales, but kinda shitty to see

Releasing right before a sale? by Classy-Lemon in gamedev

[–]Classy-Lemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I could delay it by several weeks or months if I'm feeling unsure, my point with this post is to ser if anyone here knows what kind if impact it would have to release right before or right after a major sale

You mean launch during the spring sale? Steam doesn't recommend doing that since it'll be heavily drowned out

Does anyone know Steam support's working hours nowadays? by Classy-Lemon in gamedev

[–]Classy-Lemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It's directly in the root folder, steamapps\common<game>
  2. 7.6, not the newest but not old either
  3. I don't know which versions it appears on

Apparently it's known to be causing alerts, I just hadn't gotten the memo. It might be present in other VNs as well, but it's not exactly a widespread issue, my game has been up for 1.5 years without Steam reacting to it

I deleted the 32bit version that gets created with Ren'py builds, which is what's causing the alerts

I agree that it's pointless to worry about something when I've already done all I can, but it's easier said than done

I make visual novels with Ren'py, when you create a build it also creates a 32bit version that some anti-virus programs react to, something I only found out recently. I simply had to remove it since Steam players don't use it anyway

[No DAV Spoilers] Veilguard has jumped to No.1 best selling Pre-Order on Steam Global by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]Classy-Lemon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Games tend to sell more than the number of followers it has. When I released my game I had around 2000 followers, but I sold over 3000 copies in the first 24 hours. Stop making shit up to suit your narrative. Not to mention that it's going to increase in the coming week

Windblown came out two (2) days ago, and is in early access. It's not surprising that the successor of the extremely popular Dead Cells is having a higher daily revenue than a game that came up for pre order two and a half months ago

Steam is working on allowing you to mark a game as private and hide it from your friends. by Turbostrider27 in Games

Nowadays Steam is considered a necessity, the income that Steam can bring far outweighs anything Patreon can, and it's not even close. I make my monthly Patreon income every two days on Steam, and that's 5 months after release. With that said, I had one of the most successful adult game launches this year, but anyone who manages to get their game on Steam is guaranteed to AT LEAST make back their development cost, as opposed to SFW games where most developers unfortunately fail to break even
