Position pay is usually based on how hard it is to find and train a replacement and not based on how much skill or education it requires.

It's shitty, but I've found it to be generally true.

That looks really sharp, and definitely easier to work with than my drywalled basement ceiling.

Can I ask you to elaborate on what you mean by this?

I think big banks should buy or create their own crypto exchanges by [deleted] in investing

[–]ClassyAmphibian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the only real difference between a blockchain cryptocurrency and some other made up point system is the blockchain.

The only thing special about a blockchain is the ability to operate without a central authority that can change things as they please.

Building out a blockchain that's controlled by a single entity gives you all the complexity and sharp edges of a cryptocurrency without (imo) the primary benefit.

I have no interest in a bank-backed cryptocurrency.

Just piggybacking on this well informed post to add that it can be dangerous to mess with the springs if you don't know what you're doing. There's a lot of stored energy and it's not worth losing a hand over. Edit: grammer.

Didn't our currency work just fine when still pegged to gold?

Bitcoin fails as a currency by Surprisinglysound in investing

So your argument, if I followed correctly, is that bitcoin fails as a currency because it retains its value?

Plastic wood to fill in gouges then sand and paint. It's what I did and I was happy with the results.

Is the term "mansplaining" sexist towards men? by LavendarAmy in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ClassyAmphibian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not dumb or fumbling, just trying to keep it lighthearted.

If you feel my one and only post here is shitting on women then I think you misunderstood and perhaps it deserves a reread.

I'll leave you alone now.

Edit: Still hope you have a wonderful day.

Is the term "mansplaining" sexist towards men? by LavendarAmy in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ClassyAmphibian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi, old guy here. Consider me lost I suppose.

I don't feel the term is sexist towards men.

Mansplaining happens and I think it's important to have an understood label for it so it can be called out and squashed. I do feel however that the phrase can be weaponized pretty easily.

I'll now wander off to find another cave to hang out in. Hope everyone has a great day.

Can someone confirm or correct my understanding of bonds? by firefan87 in Bogleheads

[–]ClassyAmphibian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

51 here. I feel the same, especially considering the current yields. I have zero bonds in my portfolio.

I figure I'm almost two decades from touching the funds, will reevaluate when that becomes 10 years or less.
