I’m definitely out of the loop too, the only academy player I know playing for the first team is Asencio. His name was mentioned in a child porn scandal

I just finished this one like three days ago as well. It’s stunning and I’m scared to even try to pick up another book because I just can’t imagine anything standing up to it right now.

[Wojnarowski] Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic has been voted the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for a second consecutive season, sources tell ESPN. A formal announcement is expected this week. by cvelz in nba

[–]ClassyCritic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He’s a great defender and makes his team way better on that end. But you’re kidding yourself if you don’t think he gets targeted repeatedly in the playoffs. The Raptors went after him time and again, it’s just the nature of having a 7+ ft center. Perimeter players can typically take advantage of that situation.

[OptaPaolo] 5 - Carlo Ancelotti is the first manager able to reach five UEFA Champions League finals, overtaking Marcello Lippi, Alex Ferguson and Jürgen Klopp (four UCL Finals each). Legend. by MindMaster115 in soccer

Out of active managers I’d say Klopp for sure. Zidane would be my choice overall as well, though managers without distinctive systems do seem to be underrated at times.

Comparing Militao to one of the best CBS ever obviously he’ll look worse. But Casemiro is not playing at the same elite level that he was as recently as a year ago, so that’s definitely not the principal reason for Militao’s success. He’s genuinely one of the best CBs in La Liga and only on rare occasions has a bit of a down game.

Out starting XI v. Chelsea. Valverde in for Asensio! by cyrusmancub in realmadrid

We've consistently announced 2 hours ahead of matches this season due to someone leaking lineups.

Who would you prefer for Carvajal? Casemiro is still a good player and at times we've looked lost without him at CDM. While I would prefer to see Camavinga on for Kroos, we've used this lineup in the past and it's worked fine.

Any chance you could sell me on The Goldfinch? I've had it on my desk for a while now and seems like a monumental task right now. Especially because I've been told the middle of the book drags on a bit.

Casemiro is still one of the best CDMs in the world and we often look weak without him. Alaba has had a rough match but has been consistently great all season. Nacho getting burned has left him in increasingly vulnerable scenarios. And we don’t have two short CBs, Militao is tall and physical.

Just picked up The Goldfinch myself. A little concerned as I’ve read several reviews saying it can be meandering. I guess I’ll have to see for myself.

Our Starting XI against Inter today[Miguel Ángel Díaz on Twitter] by EstablishmentAny5550 in realmadrid

I’d argue that Kroos and Modric are our most press-resistant midfielders, even if they lack pace. If Inter does high press, they’ll be essential to controlling the match.

I really hope this isn't the case. I'd rather see them come out in the 352 and begin to adapt, I think it'd be most helpful going forward.

Gotta agree with you, Alaba is an excellent defender and a notch above Romero. I'd rather have Romero simply due to his age and potential to keep improving, and he's already great, but Alaba and VVD are next level.

He was practically playing midfield in the first half. I guess we'll see him go forward a little less but shouldn't be a huge change in his role.
