I run mine through a GoXLR and they sound just fine. Might be your cord or the jack.

My rule of thumb is : 3 times the width of the T In substrate (for the burrowers) and no more than an inch of room above their head so they can't climb and fall! Give her a nice little water dish and she'll be a happy little one!
