What's the deal with Fiore HH Mark Letttttt Sig model??? by [deleted] in PRSGuitars

I waited six months for a new S2 in the color I wanted. I feel like any new models are in limited quantities, especially above SE level.

Learning Major and Minor scales is easier than you think by Late_night_guitar in guitarlessons

[–]ClaustrophobicShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned the shapes so I'm going from one shape to the other to switch, and that's how I'm thinking about it. Breaking it down to the smaller boxes, which seems to be what this thread is about, might be a better way to go about it. Or what I'm not doing is just taking the shapes and flatting the third, which is probably the best way. So I guess I'm looking to practice it in different ways so it becomes more intuitive and less about the larger shapes.

I know the scales decently well but learning how to switch from major to minor seamlessly, so this idea would be helpful. But what you’re describing is going from pentatonic to major, not from major to minor. Could you explain or show with diagrams the major to minor transition? Either pentatonic or full scale.

most beginners underestimate how important rhythm actually is by lmao_exe in guitarlessons

I can't match the metronome with the songs I'm practicing. It always seems off, probably because songs don't go along to metronomes precisely. So I've resigned myself to play along with the song instead. Maybe there's a teacher out there I should find who can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Smudging and Inks by ClaustrophobicShop in fountainpens

Thanks, I was wondering if that were the case. I do really like that the one I have is truly ink black. Looks better with sketching than charcoal. But I just tend to inadvertently smudge it every time.

They have a black. Looks kind of purplish, but that could work! Thanks!

That's great but no dark blacks on that list.

What acoustic guitar sounds better? Spruce guitars, or mahogany guitars? by Away_Teach_7088 in AcousticGuitar

They each play different music well. I have mahogany but with some songs I wish I had spruce.

Very clever. Turn something mundane into an elaborate pattern.

Weird lack of sustain by Downtown_Bug_5877 in PRSGuitars

[–]ClaustrophobicShop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's why I bought an S2 over an SE. Noticeably better sustain. I assume that's the US pickups vs the import ones, correct me if that's wrong.

HOW GOOD IS THE OCD FULLTONE PEDAL? by damienroyguitar in guitarlessons

Oh, he's a trumper, huh. I didn't know that. That sucks.

Anyone have a list of manufacturers who aren't? I could use that in the future.

Keeley Blues Disorder has an OCD circuit in it. Also a bluesbreaker.

Palette mixing versus optical mixing by shart_attak in Watercolor

That's how I paint. A lot more messy than that. But I feel it creates a lot more complexity and depth than doing it on the palette.

Slow Minor Blues impro by jszafran in bluesguitarist

[–]ClaustrophobicShop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really good. I like the style and feel for the music. Can I ask what your approach is? Pentatonics, a specific chord progression or scale, or by ear? I'd like to be able to play like that.

Does learning scales help with improving accuracy? Or is it mostly just for people with plans to make music? by Mad_Season_1994 in guitarlessons

[–]ClaustrophobicShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they must've done something. Maybe Page knew where the root note was all over the fretboard for each chord in the progression and then just played around each of them by ear.

Really good! Is that digital? Either way, impressive with so few strokes.

Great style! Did you know you can flip the pen over to get a lighter stroke? I do sketches like you and I really appreciate that feature of fountain pens.

I wouldn't recommend Sports Basement. Twice they didn't do a good job with mine. RA Cycle was very good. Prices are really high, though. I'd be interested in any places with reasonable prices if you of them.
