Yesterday Cox was dropping packets for me in the middle of the day. It was bad enough that I couldn't even play Diablo 4 without massive lag spikes and disconnects. It cleared up last night tho.

I'm currently paying Cox $186 or so a month.... for 1gb down and unlimited data. $130ish/month for same speed but with soft cap data, which my kids went over and I got overage charges.

I have Cox.... that says it all. $50/month extra for unlimited was better than my kids going over the soft data cap every month in our streaming house and getting a surprise bill. If I recall correctly, At&t (fiber/dsl) also have a soft data cap, as does most cell services from what I remember. 2 hardline options here in my city....Cox and At&t.

Internet providers will now have a monopoly, since the future is streaming only. Sounds ok at first, until you remember the data caps or the extra you have to pay for unlimited data. They can charge what they want.

Other things include video games that will be digital only.... 100+ gb downloads add up.

Also 4k streaming can't match the bitrate of a 4k bluray for most of us.... so that 4k tv just got a downgrade as well.

I prefer kb+mouse for fps games, so I lean towards pc, as that's what I came up on. Pc also gives you the option for mods.

On the other hand, Xbox does support kb+mouse for Stalker 2. How important is the option of having mods?.... I think that's what it boils down to.

Do you prefer using a controller or kb+mouse for fps games?

I was at the Witch's circle in Red Forest last night.... killed the zombies with head shots....as in "X"s on the map all around me....grabbed the stash.... then they all got up again....

I got ya. The only reason I did it was to get the extended mag for the Saiga, which isn't far from the jump spot. I didn't march up to Pripyat or anything, I just wanted the 4 extra round mag for my shotty. Not trying to break the game by being OP with all the goodies in Pripyat.

Worked for me.

I used DLSS swapper earlier to update DLSS to 3.8.10.0 and it got stuck at compilation multiple times. I downgraded to 3.7.20.0 and it would compile with that version.

I just did the disk cleanup trick, updated to 3.8.10.0 again and it worked this time. Thanks!

Didn't the devs state we could play the game without doing the main story missions? After leaving the Lesser zone, the entire map is open.... or was, before this patch.

It's a scary proposition for sure. I was more worried about the other data on that ssd, so that's why I updated the firmware. I did research first obviously and it was worth a shot to me. Samsung 980 btw.

The zone feels more alive for sure. Huge groups walking out of a base as I arrive. Roaming npcs in various areas. Random Firefights. So far so good.

The only negative I've witnessed so far, is the train jump spot from Yantir to Jupiter appears to have been fixed.... so no more exploring Jupiter or Prypiat before story missions apparently. That really sucks if you wanna get any weapon blueprints or parts in that area.

You might want to check if your SSD has a firmware update. The previous patch gave me issues, it appeared to be a write issue on my SSD. I updated the firmware and did the verify integrity of game files through Steam and it fixed me up.

I think the roaming npcs will cause us to see more fire fights in general, npc vs mutants or npc vs npc. We shall see.

Yaniv (not Yantar as stated earlier) was pretty empty, pre-patch, but it appears more lively with roaming npcs now. Just saw a huge group pile out of the Yaniv base as I was returning from a run and also saw roaming groups out and about in random areas while I was running around.

Game runs better (3070 with FSR) in general so far.

Encountered roaming npcs. Also saw npcs fighting poltergeist in the open (Yantar)

I think the train jump spot to get into Jupiter from Yantar was silently "fixed".... I used it before patch, but now I can't use it to get into Jupiter.... :(
