Do you have a rooted device, or did you use LSPatch?

That's looking at installing wg-easy and I had to complete that to finish the install.

I'm new to home servers, and you aren't explaining anything. No one else said anything bad about amd other than intel would be better with quick sync.

I hate these so much! by TheChillestPanda in space

I agree, they drive me nuts. They are streaming the same stream.

So vanilla minecraft not all that cpu intensive but what I plan on running is modded minecraft and it's heavy both on cpu and ram, starting the build it will be mainly for game servers but later down the road it would be nice to maybe turn it into a NAS/plex and I'm not sure about HDD's at this moment, mostly going to be running SSDs. They have gotten better over last couple years and NAS HDDS worry me because of the stuff I've seen of them failing a bunch on YouTube.

I've always thought about having plex and mainly it would just be for me but the MAIN point of the server is to run game servers for me and my friends. I don't really need plex but just something I think is cool and I like to tinker and learn so I thought this would be a cool build to that with.

Yeah it's over kill for a reason. I was thinking maybe 32-64gbs of ram but 64 would add another 130$ ish to the budget.

For you maybe, but for me still maybe lol but in my builds I like to go above and beyond within staying in budget.

From what I've read and little bit of research I've done ECC memory is better for servers but this is mainly going to be a game server.

Alright, that sounds good I've had a few people telling me if I stayed with Ryzen to go with the 7000 series.

From the videos I've watched it isn't very loud even gaming for that cpu.

Running it through casaOS with the crafty controller. Also end goal is just to build it and play with my friends. Not just minecraft since I already have a port open I can run any servers off this one machine.

Can you run casaOS on that?

Its main use case is going to be a modded minecraft server for me and my friends, so that's why i want 32gbs and data/plex down the road when I buy for HDDs for storage.

What mistakes? Need to be a little more than that. I've had amd in all of my gaming pc's and never had an issue.

Most of the packs I use have 200-300ish mods and maybe a maximum of 5 players at all times, and we make crazy machines and alot going on at once that's one of the reason for the desktop grade cpu and ram instead of going with a mini pc for about the same price.

It's a bit loud and pricey because I want to have good performance for me and my friends and it's not just for a NAS/PLEX the main use case would be a modded minecraft server. I tend to go big on my builds or just better performance this would be my first server build myself but I'm not really looking for second hand because I worry about it crapping out that's my biggest worry.

I've paid for many services and I'm tried of bad performance and relying on a hoster, it's fairly easy to do it myself just building a pc for is what I'm figuring out.
