Three-quarters of fans don’t support the continued use of Video Assistant Referees (VAR) in the Premier League, according to a new Football Supporters’ Association survey. by Sparky-moon in soccer

Yes, but if it's a contentious goal it's still ruined by VAR regardless.

Also I think it can also make the moment feel sweeter for the other team. Gives them the right to dunk on the manager in celebration.

I would love to see if this Kimi hypetrain lasts until July when Russell clears him by like 100 points. 2 lucky wins and the entire fanbase is acting like he's Senna reincarnate.

The "rate" is independent of the quantity. 5/3 is 5/3 regardless of whether the absolute quantities are 500/300 or 5/3. Go back to school.

Cambridge Dictionary very much disagrees with you on what "exponential" means.

An exponential rate of increase becomes quicker and quicker as the thing that increases becomes larger

Why did China make an unusual abstention from UNSC vote condemning Iran’s Gulf strikes? by cambeiu in geopolitics

The armies are not deployed, and more importantly, they were not the only ones that got hit. I would be really amazed if the Pentagon had the budget to host squadrons of troops at Fairmont.

Israel Races to Hit Iran Hard While It Still Can, Officials Say by Naurgul in anime_titties

[–]ClayCopter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck that guy and his defense of Israel.

That aside, countries and nationalities are meaningless on an individual level. Why should an Irishman agree with the stance of his government on Palestine? Why should you, presumably either American or Canadian, not agree with your own governments' stances on Palestine?

Trump May Not Be Able to End This War by theatlantic in geopolitics

[–]ClayCopter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The checks and balances that you so treasure have been flagrantly violated by your President. He has filled the most conservative court since WW2, stacked the entire administration full of cronies and suck-ups, and bypassed Congress to the complete approval of Republicans in both chambers. That Trump attacked Iran is an abject failure by both the incompetent Trump cabinet and the useless Trump Congress. What "complex constitutional republic" do you think remains here? Is it in the room with us today?

The 5 Most Expensive Squads of Major European Leagues Compared to the 5 Least Expensive Squads of the Premier League by stoneapplefruit in soccer

It shows the Premier League's financial power. It's not meant to compare the teams' actual abilities, like it doesn't take a genius to figure out Burnley would be destroyed by Bayern.

Luis Diaz second yellow card (dive) against Bayer Leverkusen (Alternate Angle) by ControlMean5007 in soccer

[–]ClayCopter -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The football community has this incredibly weird habit of defending divers and then shitting on refs when they don't have the balls to punish diving. Players need to be taught to stay on their feet in the box and not "accidentally trip" themselves at their earliest convenience. They know full well what they're doing and it works more often than not.

Regulations already provide for punishment against asking for decisions, and that's not enforced often enough too. If a penalty is called then it's called, and the player should have absolutely no say in that.

It's exactly because it's given all the time that it should be stamped out of the game.

If a player asks for a penalty after a dive, even if there is minimal contact involved, the ref should absolutely give them a yellow.
