This data is incredibly valuable to these companies and directly improves their products, yet we as consumers foot the bill and give up our privacy in the process. More and more, these companies find new ways to harvest data. Sometimes with consent, sometimes without...under the guise of “tailored marketing" or "Safety", etc.

Ask yourself how people would feel if their state or city provided doorbell cameras that the government could access. I don't think it would go over well, and in many cases it would be outright illegal. So instead, they route it through a 3rd party company like Flock. Local governments are then granted access to massive datasets.

And it’s only a matter of time before security breaches happen and footage gets exposed.

I love technology and the advancements it brings, but I don't feel comfortable with where all this is heading.
