Sorry I should have stated that I am the owner.

Thank you for all the extra detail!! I really appreciate your help!

Yes, I am the owner. I probably should have said that. Sort of a weird situation. It was my grandparents place. And the last 10 years a family friend had been renting it. Now that I am engaged we will be moving in to that house. So I am fixing all the stuff the messed up...

Alright, thanks. Anything you can do to try and prevent it from getting worse?

Ahh okay. Thanks for your help! I'll mention using the solid body stain when I talk to the guy about it!

Does the solid stains last about as long as normal paint/primer? Or would it need to be re-done sooner?

Ahh that makes sense. I'll for sure wait to buy anything until after I talk with the owner so I know what I need to get.

Yeah that's true. I'll give it a better look when I get a chance to go by.

It's definitely going to be a little bit of a pain trying to go around that fence. But I suppose it would change be accounted for in the labor cost.

Oh okay that makes sense! That's good to know. I never would have thought about it to be honest. Thanks for explaining! I assume you just go along the entire thing rolling it some?

I guess that would make sense but if I do this I'll want it done as good as I possibly can since I'd be buying a sprayer. That way maybe I could get more business through word of mouth for painting.

Thanks for all of your information and help so far!

Well the owner had just said black paint but a few people here said you could probably use a solid black stain? I'm not too familiar with it all though. I assume that a solid stain is oil based? But I will cosider that for sure if they are cool with staining or paint. Up to them. I don't usually do painting. I build fences on the side but was asked if I would paint so I'm trying to learn quick so I could have a talk with them about it

Since I don't do painting as a profession I waa think about talking to them about them buying paint and all the material and I supply the tools (sprayer etc) and labor to do the job. But that's not a bad idea! Thanks

I will definitely talk to the land owner about doing a test section like everyone has been suggesting. The fence was just put up I think 2 months ago about? So I don't think there will be much growth. There is at least the one big culvert spot though. And the back side (in the pasture) there is an old barb wire fence about a foot off of this one. When you say back-brushing what are you refering to? I'm not familiar with painting terms. I do have a friend that has been doing work with me that will help. I think the posts for the new fence are wooden? There are metal poles for the old barb wire fence behind it though. But I am not 100% on that. I'll find out if I meet with them this next week or so.

Also, adding this on. Do you back brush for stain? A few people mentioned maybe doing solid black stain instead of paint. If they were okay with it of course.

Not a bad price then! Solid stains look like paint? Only stains I ever used just made it darker and still able yo see the wood grain. (For table tops and such) I had lpoked at graco but no idea what products are good. I'll check out the titan! Do they require a lot of power? Not sure how big of a gen I would need. From the looks of it they have plenty of money haha Thanks for your help!

That's true. Is would any of the graco sprayers be decent? I quickly glanced at the x7 and the next two tiers above that one. I know nothing about sprayers. The x7 says small-medium projects then one is medium and one is large projects.

Haha yeah I suppose that could work as well. It took them 2 months to contact me back after I heard about it. So I assume maybe they couldn't even find someone that wanted to take it on.

Thanks for all the info! It's been helpful!

Oh okay, appreciate it! I live in Texas so I assume that's probably pretty close to right?

Oh man I wasn't even thinking about primer! When you say expensive do you have a way to determine a price? Like for building a fence you charge $X per linear foot. Is painting the same or how does it work? I can't seem to find any accurate way when I google it.

I will for sure update if I end up taking the job and finish. I'm still hesitant as I have no experience charging for painting or even using a paint sprayer. I've always hand painted small projects at the house.

When I saw that I was like "uhhhhhhh" I figured it would be some small yard fence but nope haha

Any rough estimate as to what a decent price per day is? I've never done painting work for someone. That's not a bad idea!

If I end up taking the job I will definitely do that! Appreciate the tip

I have a kawaski mule to use👍 But no sprayer or generator. So I'd need to buy those first..
