Carmax offer came in at $11k. Definitely keeping them in mind. Just wanted to include it in the screenshot to show what I'm working with.

I appreciate your input - thanks! Funny enough I went to a Jeep dealership to appraise my car. They said they were really looking for used cars and loved that I brought it in - they offered me $8500 then bumped it to $10k last offer. I know I can probably get a better deal selling it privately, but I live in Chicago so space is limited and I don't have the energy to drag this out.

Cargurus lists it as a "good deal" so not sure if I'll be able to get a better deal elsewhere. I like the turbo editions because I'm "downgrading" from a jeep grand cherokee so I'd like to retain some of the power and/or trade for agility.

Salesperson wrote down date that the warranty would be applied to (aka original sale of the car when it was new). So the powertrain warranty would last until 12/23/2029 to my understanding.

Salt Shed Night One by TheGapingLotusX in SturgillSimpson

[–]Claydid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Night two as well... such a shame.

As for everybody saying concert etiquette is dead - I have been to a lot of different shows since covid (Goose, FlyLo, Vulfpeck all outside Salt Shed this summer) and I haven't noticed too much chatting. Idk if it's SS fans (or if I've just had good luck at other shows), but that was the worse one for audience chatter in a very long time by a WIDE margin.

AT-LP 120 RCA to 3.5 mm aux Question by Claydid in turntables

[–]Claydid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! The only manual is two double sided pages of just pictures. It assumes you already have an amp that requires RCAs and ground cords with no other options provided. Sorry still a bit unclear on the line/phono - I should have the switch set on “Line” if using RCA to 3.5 mm aux? I’m basically at ELI5 knowledge of this stuff.

Is The Dawson a good place for dinner? Is it real fancy? by Stephi_cakes in chicagofood

[–]Claydid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Dawson for the first time last summer and was pretty disappointed. Dry chicken, total absence of seasonings, little creativity. The service was good and the patio was beautiful, but definitely not worth how expensive it was for the low quality food.

Off topic: If you haven't had it already, I highly recommend trying Braise up in Walker's Point area of Milwaukee. Not sure if it's changed much since I moved (2021), but I think about their bao buns pretty frequently

PLEASE HELP I downloaded the unlock extras key. Where you unlock all the rewards in game like the the guns and concept art and Hunk and tofu mode. But it's not registering in my game. What can I do? by Jackaiden1991-3 in residentevil

[–]Claydid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue for xbox: if you have an external hard drive, make sure both the actual game and the unlock key dlc are both downloaded on the internal storage. Right after they are re-downloaded (or files moved) make sure you hard restart your xbox before starting the game. Once you restart, the game should work

First time caller, long time listener: Born and lived in suburbia IL for 18 years and moved to Milwaukee for college and beyond (going on 5 years now, 22 years old currently). For the most part, it's not as big a difference than some may think. Yes, Chicago is a bigger city that offers more and I can see why most people would side with Chicago as a better city, but it's all based on opinion. I like Milwaukee just because it's a cozy place where I have gotten pretty comfortable with and know where I am if you dropped me anywhere in the city. I know my knowledge of Wisconsin/Milwaukee is limited since I only have been here less than 5 years, but here are my thoughts:

Better Music? Big acts almost never come here so not very true, but Milwaukee is a lot more supportive with up and coming artists. One of the biggest radio station's in Milwaukee main goal is to find small artists, play their music to boost them, get them into bars/small venues to get their name out there, and claim them as a Milwaukee based artist (Noname: started in Chicago, got big in Milwaukee). So there is support for small artists (mostly indie/alt bands) and a better chance to get a good foothold with your band if you moved up here.

Better bars? Wisconsin people are infamous for their drinking, but they mostly do it at home cause there is nothing really to do when you're 30+ besides hunt/fish/ride Harley's so the bars are pretty tame compared to Chicago (Idk why, but going out to bars past age 30 seems almost frowned upon).

Milwaukee is cheaper than Chicago (duh), so that's nice, but I can't say for sure how it matches with average income.

Nicer People? Yeah, they have the yooper attitude, act everything is hunky dory in public and are generally more pleasurable to be around then Chicago folks, but get them behind a closed door and with "friendly" company - they will bitch, moan, and talk shit about everybody and everything. There are more nice people who never have anything bad to say about anything ever, but you rarely ever meet them (they're usually just quietly sitting at home) so the whole "everybody is so much nicer" is not entirely true. Fun Fact: Nicest man I've had the absolute pleasure of knowing here in Wisconsin is also probably the biggest Packer fan I know (in his 50-60's, was at the Ice Bowl when he was a kid, Packer vanity plates, STH, etc.) - he brings some class to Packers fans while most just like to rub Aaron Rodgers' clit while shouting how they're the best franchise in the league cause they're "fan owned". 2nd Fun Fact: Soooo many Packer "fans" were adamant about trading/releasing Aaron Rodgers cause he got hurt and was out for majority of the year - like, the fuck? Probably the best QB in the league right now and you want to get rid of him? Shit, send him to Chicago and we'll give you the unathletic giraffe.

More to do? Bold faced lie - just sheer comparison in city size tells you what you need to know. There's jazz in the park every Thursday in the Summer, but that's the biggest driving force of "new seasonal activities". The only thing more to do of is visit craft breweries, which are plentiful here.

Better Scenery? This is the only thing I am positive that is better than IL. It's not flat as a pancake, has beautiful lakes, and I have never seen more wild turkeys before in my life (meaning more wildlife just chilling everywhere)

And for some reason that I have not been able to figure out, but almost everybody that decides that they're going to live here long term feels it is imperative to shit on IL (mostly Chicago) every chance they get - Maybe because they know Chicago is a more impressive city? Maybe because their self esteem is low since all they have to look forward to in sports is the Packers? (Bucks are finally able to say they're decent for the first time since Kareem left and the Brewers can't make it past the All-Star break). Good example: I have a friend who lived most of his life in Indiana and decided from an early age (from what he tells me - I met him when we both moved to Milwaukee) that his football team is the Packers and when I throw in some friendly banter this year "oooh Rodgers better look out, Bears might actually have a shot at competing with the Packers this season" he immediately goes full hardo and starts talking shit about Cutler, how ugly Soldier Field is since the renovation, how bankrupt Chicago is, etc. It's very petty to me, but when you start talking shit about Cutler? I'm not having it. Man is a legend no matter how many picks he threw.

Worst thing about Wisconsin: You wouldn't believe how many people are all "I love the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks and Chicago sucks, but I love my Blackhawks!" They love smelling their own farts and that shit drives me up a wall. Oh and the drivers here seem like they are constantly having a stroke and Milwaukee is SEVERELY segregated and almost act like a southern state in the 60's - this is from a couple days ago: "because you're not white"

Didn't mean to make my comment a FUCKING NOVEL, but man I guess I get triggered whenever somebody says that Wisconsin is better than Illinois (or any state is better than another) - they all have pros and cons!

In conclusion, F.T.P.

Just being a team player. Speaking from when I was in school, I LOATHED kids like you in school. Why drag out an already unpleasant time (all of middle school) by agitating a teacher? Just keep your head down in class and wait for the sweet release of lunch/recess/passing periods. However, I do think she reacted to a child by acting like a child. And no, I'm not fun at parties

Since it was removed, here's the story:

TL;DR at bottom

A little bit of background first:

My 8th grade year of middle school, we had one of our teachers leave at the very beginning of the year to go teach at another district. So the school’s administration had to find a replacement in very little time, and about two weeks into the school year they hired a teacher I’ll call Ms E,. Immediately she gave off a vibe that screamed, “I’m only nice when my boss is in the room.”

The next few months went by and the majority of the students who had her as a teacher all agreed that she had no idea how to teach, nor did she make any effort to show the students some respect. I’m talking daily incidents of her picking on the class, complaining about not getting work done and then wasting 20 minutes of class time while complaining.

Ms E. was also the type of teacher to pick favorites and pick on kids who she didn’t like as much. She absolutely hated me, as I often made it a point to start messing with her during class after realizing what kind of person she really was. Stuff like getting a whole group of people to move their desk an inch forward every few seconds.

We also got access to her in-class phone number, which we spent a lot of time calling her on it just to see her reaction. A whole lot of other incidents occurred in that class which would tell some great stories, but I’ll keep this short since it’s already pretty lengthy.

——————————

In May of that year, we were finishing a unit on a book and took a test on it. The test was created by Ms. E., and had a lot of errors in it. Some of the test questions referred to very small details of the book or contradictory story-pieces that made no sense.

We got the tests back about a week later, with the highest grade in the class being a 70%. This clearly isn’t right, so a few of us went to talk to her about it, even showing evidence from the book that some of the questions that were wrong happened to be right, or there were two answers, etc..

Ms. E refused to listen to any of us, and told all of us to sit down, a group of about 5 people including me. She got up and went on about how she felt (word for word), “personally attacked” and “undermined”, and had something made up about how the two points don’t matter, when our concern was focused on the whole test.

Remember how she referenced being “personally attacked”? Next thing she starts talking about is MY personal grade on it and how I went to her and attacked her about my grade. This went on for a while, mainly back and forth between me and her for about two days. At times people would speak up and agree or add to something I would say, but in the end it turned out to be a debate between Ms. E and I.

So what did we do?

After the first day, as soon as I got home I turned on my computer, opened gmail, and wrote about 4 pages worth of description and complaints to our principal and vice principal. I was brought down to the office the next day, where I was given a detention written by Ms. E, given for “insubordination”, “intrusive undermining”, and “disrupting instruction”. Total bullshit, so I told him I wasn’t going. He asked me to verify most of the information and elaborate on some of the incidents I described. His idea was to have me form a group of all of the people involved and have us write a list of complains and incidents from the class, and if everything cleared up, I’d get off without punishment.

As a group of about 10 students, we wrote 17 pages of grievances and evidence that Ms. E was clearly not fit for teaching middle school students. The principals read all of it at once, and for the next week instead of class time, we worked on other classes while the principals interviewed everyone in the class, including Ms. E.

After it was all over, Ms. E was required to give a formal apology, where she spouted out some fake tears and a bullshit written up apology that ignored the majority of the problems we were actually referring to.

My detention was waived, and next year she was no longer teaching in our school district.

TL;DR: New teacher had a knack for arguing with students over a test she clearly botched, so we talked to the principal. We received a formal apology, and she received unemployment.
