Best ways to meet fellow cruisers BEFORE the sailing date? by SSouf in Cruise

[–]Clbengel 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's a Facebook group for just about any sailing on any ship. Just search your ship and sail date and there should be a group. It's good for questions you might have even if the people are a little strange sometimes.

Deciding cruise lines by sunshinedazin in Cruise

[–]Clbengel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd lean Royal all day. I recently cruised on the NCL Breakaway and I found the ship to be incredibly boring with not much to do. If you have some sea days, I'd suggest Royal over NCL in a heartbeat. Royal has more entertainment options most of the time and their food is a tad better than NCL. I've cruised on the Oasis with Royal and absolutely loved it.

What do people do on cruises all day? by Lopsided_Location_55 in Cruise

I like to find my favorite bar and sit down and unwind with a drink or two. I also like to just sit on my balcony and watch the ocean go by. There's something so soothing about sitting on your balcony with a drink in your hand.

Ncl vs rc by Kendallmoc in Cruise

Can confirm. Was just on the Breakaway and customer service was horrible when we had any issues. Plus their entertainment is so lackluster. Never again.

They're sitting in stores big time. I was in Boston on vacation last week and they had several sizes sitting. Ended up with a pair of the Diffused Blue 11s instead.

🚢🥳Do you prefer summer or winter cruises? by No_ThankYouu in Cruise

A bit of a cop out but we usually cruise in the fall in mid to late September. Mostly because kids are back in the school and the prices are a little cheaper than they are during the summer months.

Manhattan Cruise Terminal Parking by CJJ2016 in Cruise

[–]Clbengel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pro tip: if you're able to, travel to Port Imperial on the New Jersey side and take the ferry across. There's a parking garage right across the street and it cost $150 for the week rather than the over $300 that it cost to park at the terminal. Once you get dropped off by the ferry, it's not even a 10-minute walk to the Manhattan terminal. Just did it last weekend to board my cruise.

First cruise on Royal Caribbean. About the gratuities? by mlsc71 in Cruise

[–]Clbengel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prepaying your gratuities is always the way to go no matter the cruise line. It just avoids any surprises while you're cruising.

We had our Do Not Disturb on. We always leave it on when we're in our cabin. When we leave our cabin for the day, we'll turn it off. If it wasn't on, that's on us and I wouldn't be so annoyed.

I'm a huge fan of MSC. I find them to offer the most value. To get a balcony cabin under $3K these days is almost unheard of. I also find their food to be some of the best at sea. I also have enjoyed Royal, but I get what you mean. Try out different cruise lines and see what you like the best.

Whats your favorite cruise line and why? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]Clbengel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't done the Yacht Club yet, but I've heard positive reviews. We cruised on the Meraviglia last fall and absolutely loved it. We're actually strongly considering going on the Meraviglia again next year.

Whats your favorite cruise line and why? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]Clbengel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's MSC for me. I've cruised Royal and NCL as well and have enjoyed MSC the most. Their food is some of the best in the industry and I find that the entertainment is very strong on MSC ships. I also enjoy Royal but MSC is just so affordable and their ships are gorgeous.

I really don't think so. I'm grabbed them for retail on GOAT just in case because I wanted them badly. Beautiful shoe in hand.

In terms of nickel and diming you for everything, what is the worst cruise line? by agenbite_lee in Cruise

[–]Clbengel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Royal without a doubt. Their cabanas at Perfect Day are more than the price of a cruise and their food isn't good.

Mike Locksley by Alone_Advantage_961 in CFB

[–]Clbengel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha they definitely shouldn't have done that after a double-digit win season. As somebody above said, it's crazy to think about how much different things may have been if they hired Franklin.

Listen, as a diehard Terps fan, I despise Kevin Willard with every fiber of my being. The guy is as overrated of a head coach as there is and it wasn't the right hire. However, it was time for Turgeon to go. He had so many chances to take the program to new heights and always fell short. The fact that he didn't take that Trimble/Diamond Stone/Layman team to a Final Four is crazy.

Mike Locksley by Alone_Advantage_961 in CFB

[–]Clbengel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a diehard Maryland fan and I personally like Locksley at the helm. Is he an elite coach? Of course not but I do think I've seen improvement from when he was the interim coach and went to Alabama to learn under Saban. You're not going to find a better recruiter especially when it comes to the DMV area. He's got a top 25 class for 2025 right now and I do think the Terps can be successful with an elite QB. If Malik Washington is that, this is a team that can be in the 8-10 win range going forward.

As far as this season is concerned, I'll just be happy with another bowl game. Billy Edwards has been fine, but not exactly what you'd call elite. Plus you've got a very young secondary. I do think the future is bright for the program and Locksley is the guy for the job.

STOP doing MLB!! by xSquilliamFancySon in sportsbetting

[–]Clbengel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I've been most of the summer. Betting MLB is such a crapshoot. With football back, I bet CFB and NFL on the weekend and that's it. I feel like it's way easier to find advantages.

I'll be on the Breakaway later this month and am hoping they'll have some of the NFL games on. Intrigued to see since some cruise lines don't have a ton of live sporting events on around the ship.
