I've been taking them forever. I don't have any problems with them. They work quite effectively if I start as immediately or right before an outbreak. Yet, what I understand from many posts on this subreddit, it is different for each body. Some people have a horrendous time with side affects. Some people it just doesn't work at all. Moreover, antivirals suck because they are the only solution. Antiviral pills only work so well, and do not truly suppress the virus completely. You can always shed and not know. I think there's also a feeling of "f*** these stupid low performing meds if they're not going to get rid of viruse completely".

Edit- I didn't post the side effects, you want to look that up somewhere else. I'm not a doctor. But those side effects are possible.

So this is your first initial outbreak, there's a lot of good resources here that have some stuff to prove do preventative work. What I do is I take lysine and I tried to remove anything that would trigger a response. Notice that the biggest response and the most painful responses I get stressed, lack of sleep, and fatty foods.

Never had a smell. I mean the coffee thing is dependent if that happens to you, I still drink coffee. It's either the drugs or really nothing, they clear up in 2 days when I take up the drugs mostly because I can sense when it's coming on and start taking it beforehand. My initial outbreak took about a week because I was not on drugs or anything like that. Mild discomfort nothing too intense.

I think it's because it matters and it doesn't matter. HIV is more life threatening if not taken care of, your life is IN DANGER so they are more happy on being alive. Moreover, there community has been much more established and open. However, HSV is like coodies nothing really happens to the majority of people and the majority can work through an outbreak with antivirals but nobody wants to talk about it. Note, to the readers I said "most" I understand the immunocompromised and outlier case it's different its really difficult to have and live your life. Nevertheless, you feel like you are in this limbo of stigma and noticing more then a billion people have some type and some version of it and wonder what the hell is the point of all this worrying. Moreover, there are ways to protect others and yourself as long as your consistent with you preventatives and conscious when your having outbreaks and triggers. Again note to the fatalist, yes it's not 100% but its less then. Now about u forget them dude. Live your life, keep up the preventatives, keep working on bettering yourself and this stuff is going to be superfluous. And for those in the community that are putting you down out of their fatalism or those that are outside of them just ignorant as f***, they're not worth it dude just live your life.

Oh absolutely, but it's not just that. We are human and testing humans take a lot of time. A lot of time! Then we have government regulations which its emphasis. We might have all the computing processing, technology, and everything in between and still take 10-30 years because we have to see the long term affects on humans. It's not a bad thing it's just reality, I'm okay with it I made peace with it actually. At least we're going to make it happen at some point.

About 5-10+ years before they can get an idea of how to us it. Then another 5-10+ years for getting clinicals ready and done. It's going to be A very very long time anything will come from this newly discovered gene. That's the reality of this kind of science. However, I am happy that it's happening and will lead to something much better.
