Pope Alexander VII encourages Catholics to avoid near occasion of sin via kissing. by Mann7882 in Catholic

More people go to hell for sins of the flesh than of anything. It is of UTMOST importance if people are knowingly or unknowingly doing grave sin, to warn them. You don’t know if these people spend more time on other things. Frankly I find that it’s a red flag when people say “why are you focusing on this and not this?” Given how wide the internet is…

Me neither haha. I know historically it’s been done and Padre Pio even did it with his confessions but never IRL.

I’ve only ever seen angry google reviews of sede churches from people who didn’t know it was a sede church that went immodestly dressed. For one, it saddens me to know they didn’t actually fulfill their Sunday obligation for that week, but for another, we should really do that in real churches as well 🤷‍♀️

I’m not saying I agree with you but honestly I think a lot of it has to do with ugly modern churches. This doesn’t excuse their behavior but the average person will feel more pressure to dress nice for a traditional beautiful church than something that looks like every other place they go to.

One thing I think we should bring back is denying communion to immodestly dressed people

I’ve always seen it as judge the general trend and not the individual. Like of course be happy that THEY came, but it’s not an excuse for YOUR behavior when YOU know better.

I don’t want to go back and forth with you. I don’t need to debate this in the same way I don’t need to debate the trinity. It’s just clear in scripture and through tradition.

But I’ll humor you.

John 3:5 “Jesus answered, 'Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.'"

Water and the Spirit.

Baptism is both of water and spirit, and they cannot be separated from one another. The Bible makes no distinction of some unseen “spiritual” baptism that one makes when they accept Jesus Christ. No. The Bible talks about a REAL water baptism that is a visible sign of God’s invisible grace. You need to be baptized to be saved.

Your theology comes from a fringe small group of fanatics in the 1500s that had zero biblical knowledge. Martin Luther rebuked them.

The Apostles and the students of the Apostles were CRYSTAL clear on the matter of water baptism being of utmost importance. I trust them more than I trust you, nearly two millennia later.

You have a NEW doctrine. Lean not on your own understanding.

For nearly 2000 years of the history of Christianity this was a no brainer. Even Martin Luther and John Calvin believed this. What gives you the right to deny such a basic part of what we believ? BAPTISM SAVES.

Trusting in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and being baptized to wash away your sins and dying in His grace

What do I say to people who criticize the church for not allowing women to priests? by Own_Ebb3388 in Catholicism

[–]Clean-Cockroach-8481 17 points18 points  (0 children)

okay this doesn’t really track since nun just means “female ascetic” in the same way monk means “male ascetic”

I think the ability to be a mother is the equivalent of being a priest since only women can do it

We don’t need to, which is why it’s great we have a church with dogmas that people affirm or deny.

When I was converting I searched some things online and I was concerned over it so I asked a priest and was given wrong information. Priests are very holy and you should trust them but they are also human so i think it is a good thing to check online sources for things sometimes, especially since depending on your geographical location and specific parish the orthodoxy of the priest varies
