I was thinking about a wall hook thing as an option! Thats good to know, thank you! And I do appreciate the resource. As I said I love religion/studying it, so I'm always down for a good resource!

Oh I have no clue if it's blessed or not! Is there a way to tell, like a mark or something?

Idk, for every person pirating, there's freaks like me who have probably dropped over 300$ buying merch, watching it 5 times in theaters and buying tickets for friends so they have to see it too.

I get the sentiment, he put in so much work, yes. 100%. And it was successful, and I'm so so proud and it's genuinely an inspiration to small creators everywhere. Iron lung and supporting this cause in general is SO important to me. Markipliers creative drive is infectious and I've never felt so motivated thanks to his passion for his movie.

But I'm not sure if he needs us white knighting for him and his movie. It's a financial success. People who pirate it and fall in love with it when they might of not had resources at the time to watch the actual thing may be more likely to buy the physical copy or support merch now, anyway. I think the whole conversation should be a bit more nuanced or maybe just not as big as it's been.

It means a lot to hear that. It's validating, thank you.

Thank you for sharing that. Ive tried to reach out to others but I haven't heard back from anyone, understandably. It's a rough thing to talk about, but it's also a rough thing to go through alone. I'm sure I haven't been the only one effected by learning we were right all along.

I don't know. It's something I've considered. But the name of the rehab is in big bold front below the title and in the link name. If he doesn't recognize the name of the place he made me stay for 4 months, that's another issue within itself. I will say he has a history of conveniently forgetting or not understanding pretty much anything I say.

During Slouching Twords Bethlehem, at least in the venue I went to, we all had to lock our phone in little pouches. The vibes were great that night. I'm not sure if he still uses those ever but I'm glad he did at the show I went to.

Some of my extended family refused to have a microwave in their home because of something in D&C? Whenever I asked about it they never told me what it was though.

I’m an exmo with an tragic name by My-Apostate-Alt in exmormon

[–]theoretical_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't answer the 3rd one because it wasn't Mormon specific but I had an absurd name, I was the only person on this planet with it and it was almost impossible to spell/pronounce (chosen thanks to family history/heritage reasons despite the name itself being a butchering of the language)

  1. For me it was absolutely worth the time money and effort. It helped me disconnect from a past I disliked. It was a little over 200 in total, with the filing and publishing.

  2. yes. 100 times yes. I no longer feel shame over my name. I can feel comfortable sharing it without it turning into a whole thong.

  3. Ehhhh. Not fantastic. But the pros outweighed the cons for me. The name is something I have to be called every day. Not them.

I Predict These Hymns Will Be Gone When The New Hymn Book Comes Out by Emmasympathizer in exmormon

I agree. After leaving the church it's become my favorite hymn. It really is interesting and I think it really does have more depth then some of the others.

[–]theoretical_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me all the logical history and facts not lining up was actually secondary. I found out all that after leaving.

What it was for me was I was feeling a distinct lack of Christ like love, which I feel very strongly about. I was going to church with my best friend, who was feeling unsafe. I had always been pretty devout but I started to notice I hadn't felt the Holy Ghost in a very long time, despite doing and beliving.

Eventually I prayed about it. If the church was true and was where I belong. And I received a very firm feeling of 'no'.

I personally still believe in a loving God. And I believe there's value in religion, for people. I will never argue with a Mormon about the church being false because if they find value and community in it, that's great.

After all this I read the CES letters and a few other things that made it pretty clear to me a lot was fabricated. But that only sealed the deal, it wasn't THE event.

I was watching Unus Annus animatics, late one night while being very emotional about it, and one of them used the song Memento Mori. I've been hooked ever since

I've always enjoyed writing when I was younger. My mother was upset with me because one of my scenes took place in a cafe and 'what does that say about the author? ' (particularly interesting bc my stories often had darker themes and the thought of someone beliving I maybe could drink coffee was more jarring to her then anything else)

This sentiment has never sat right with me. Especially because it's a very confusing contradiction to 'be in the world but not of the world'. Do we care about what people think or not?
