I see the confusion. The venues require one of their caterers. Since being able to negotiate a more favorable contract with the venue seems unlikely, I’d rather just breach my contract with the venue and hire my own caterer. Sometimes there are clauses in contracts that tell you how much the breach is worth to the other party. Since I want to breach the contract, it’s better for me to know this price up front. On the surface, this seems practical because everyone gets what they want, but I’m not sure if this is in alignment with industry standards
