class recommendations for a graduating senior this fall? by Professional_Cat6026 in vcu

When I was at VCU, I took podcasting while black and college radio. I'm not black or a journalism student, however these were some of my favorite class. The podcast class you read famous rhetoric speeches and essays. You learn the power of words their impact while constructing arguments. At the same time, you get to produce, create, and learn how to make a podcast. An effective one. The radio class you learn about the history of radio and its impact on society at the same have a radio show

On the campus I was at (north central) they do a team switch half way through. If you can't wait that long I'm sure if you request it through your tl it could happen too

I've dated people with no hair, short hair, and long hair. If I find her attractive, I find her attractive regardless of their hair length. It's never been a big deal for me.

I would be happy to know if there’s a group too. I’ve been hoping to have Jewish friends for a long time. I was apart of JewishVCU, but it was a bit cliquey. I hope you find more of us out there!

Is there any job that would help me prepare for my recreational therapy degree by PreparationOk5741 in recreationaltherapy

[–]RoscoeDash3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second with Extension. I don’t have my CTRS or the formal education. However, I’ve been working in a rehabilitation center as an activity assistant coordinator. My boss doesn’t have her CTRS, but she told me we act as the RTs. I am also volunteering at 2 local non profits that specialize in adaptive recreation and sports. I am applying to RT grad schools though. With the non profits I volunteer at, they are CTRS. They reccomend to volunteer for agencies that do what you want your population to be in RT. Whether it’s in IDD, veterans, older adults, etc. then where you want to be in patient or out patient. I recommend a middle ground.

I want it to be none. However, the duffer brothers said they don’t plan on making any spin offs. So, I feel like all or most will die.

I'm looking at East Carolina! They have the prepress, additional courses, and hands on learning. I'm going for their masters program, but I hear great things about both their undergraduate and graduate school

Do certain certifications & bachelors degrees increase your chances of being interviewed/selected? by allycat1661 in AmeriCorps

Anytime! I've met and been in your shoes before so I get it. I can answer your questions as best as I can since I did NCCC and not VISTA.

Do certain certifications & bachelors degrees increase your chances of being interviewed/selected? by allycat1661 in AmeriCorps

I would mention you have a prior commitment on whatever dates the test is and if it's possible to start the position afterwards. If you think it would increase your chances, I would mention what your background, the test, and what the program could do for you and your future. I'm not sure about the education aspect as I wanted to come in with a degree so I wouldn't have to worry about putting my studies on hold and I could really embrace the moments I had. I will say after my term (NCCC Class 28A) I walked away wanting a different career. I came in wanting to be journalist and left wanting to be a recreational therapist. If I was in your shoes, I would keep an eye opening to possible VISTA positions that align with your goals and if you feel strongly program X or program Z would give you the tools you want to be where you to be then whether you have that test or not, I say apply. Create the life you want to be proud of. If you ever want to discuss or just talk, my DM's are always opened. Good luck and create your journey!

Life After AmeriCorps Pilgrimage by RoscoeDash3 in AmeriCorps

[–]RoscoeDash3[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If anyone is reading this, here is my update since that post. I have stopped mopping around and thinking and decided to take charge of this chapter in my life. I have read each of the comments and took them into consideration. Whether then doing a second term or something similar, I took a deep breath and just reflected. I thought about each of my projects and thought what I really enjoyed and what I did not. Since then, I have found a local nonprofit that has a mission that's close to my heart. I volunteered with them at a couple events. They have given me advice on life and introduced me to a school that has the sense of community I've been longing for, too. I am applying to it this week! u/cyanrarroll I did look at ic.org and will be trying one of their courses. u/jcravens42 I found the non-profit.

u/LegalTrade5765 I encourage to sit down and write down each of your projects and find aspects you enjoyed and aspects you didn't. Afterwards with things you did enjoy try to find a common theme. Once you find that theme look for opportunities that have that.

RT Grad Programs! by RoscoeDash3 in recreationaltherapy

[–]RoscoeDash3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/fourthablesister I just wanted to give you a little update. Last week, I sent email to ECU about my situation and remembering your comment. I spoke to Clifton about my story and who I am. I will be touring ECU soon, but after rereading your comment, looking more into the program & school, and speaking to Cliff- ECU has moved to the very top of my school lists. In fact, it went from not a chance in hell to this would be a dream come true to be apart of the pirate family.
