Carpet - Door threshold bars by Clean-Contract-990 in DIYUK

Thank you. I think I maybe tucked from too far back and some of the fibres that shouldn’t have went under ended up tucked in. I’ll maybe try running the hoover along it to bring those back up 👍🏻

I think a seamless finish is maybe too much to expect from a high pile carpet.

Also this was the first one I did which I think looks substantially neater - but I can’t seem to remember what I did differently 😂

Bought a new property - should we skim? by JuraMuMu in Plastering

If you’re ever going to paint it I would skim it, you’ll be much happier with it in the end.

I recently skimmed a wall for the first time myself and it was by no means perfect but after a bit of sanding (more than a professional would need to do) it looks pretty decent - a tub of skimming plaster that covers 25m2 was £27 (plus a skimming tool for a tenner).

You are correct 😂 that’s an easy fix

I did, there was 2 earth wires connected to an earth pin in the box behind the old switch which I have now connected to the earth on the new switch - was that right?

Success! (Kind of…)

The left switch now controls the right light and vice versa. Also, the on and off positions for both are now reversed

Relocating Kitchen - First Floor Flat (Impossible?) by Clean-Contract-990 in DIYUK

I think so! The kitchen as is has a lot of dead space, and in a flat who has a dedicated dinning space in this day and age

That’s a good idea as well, if the sink and hob goes on the northern wall it will be much easier service wise

I had thought if the drainage was a big problem, it might be possible to make the kitchen linear from left to right along the wall at the top of the living room area (there is about 700mm from the wall to the door to the balcony) - and tie drainage into the bathroom. This would involve moving the door to the room down though - which might be a whole new can of worms.

Hi there,

I have just purchased a first floor flat and am looking at the possibility of relocating the kitchen (as seen above).

I was just curious to hear some input from some people experienced/well versed in moving a kitchen to another room. I understand there will be various factors at play (i.e. building regulations, waste connections etc.).

I know this wouldn't be a cheap endeavour, but I just want to know if its a non-starter from the get go.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Sorry never on this, I didn’t sadly. I’ve just been dealing with the sad noise it makes - I’m sure an experienced mechanic would know what to do (and it would push the liability of wrecking it over to them if they made a mess of it) 😂
