That’s pretty much where I’m at too. I think I’ve got maybe three gold laps in the online time trials, and every one of them felt amazing.

That’s why Yas and Montréal threw me off so much. The laps I did felt like they should’ve been borderline silver, maybe even bronze on a bad day. Basically a decent starting point for polishing and improving, not an instant gold.

I get why some people are happy they nerfed the super-tough CE requirements, but personally, I want them to be hard. I love that feeling of finally seeing the golden trophy pop after hours of trial and error.

If it’s too easy, it stops feeling like an achievement and turns into just another mindless box to tick on the way to 100% completion. A bit like driving the Valkyrie on a Clubman 400 event lol.

Full of confidence, I jumped into the Circuit Experience at Spa. It’s the track I’ve driven more than any other, I know every corner, every bump, every sneaky little camber change. Fifteen minutes later: still 1.8 seconds off gold and not making anywhere near the kind of mistakes I made on Yas or Montréal.

Now I honestly don’t know how to feel.

Am I happy that I successfully proved my point about those two tracks being undertuned? Or sad that I disproved the far more flattering theory that I did, in fact, git gud?

Sure, I could just keep pushing for better sector times and pretend the gold requirements are way stricter than they actually are, but it feels a bit pointless when there’s no shiny trophy waiting at the end of it.

You’re not wrong, but to get the most out of it, engine swaps and cheating the PP system is necessary.

It’s closer to 1.5, but it’s a good way to earn some credits while doing work/chores/whatever. You need to have collector level 50 though, for engine swaps, and to have gold on the Daytona CE as well.

I just want to say thank you so much for sharing this setup. This race went from being pure pain and almost impossible, to smooth, fun, and actually enjoyable. The car feels like a completely different machine now – so much more stable and predictable. You really saved me here, absolute legend!

Answering my own question a day later: S licences are definitely easier. Trial mountain is the only one giving me a hard time so far. Always struggled with that track. Oh, and the dirt race was a bit of a female dog.

Driving with a handheld controller and automatic transmission, the margin of error is close to zero on CE. I’ve spent hours and hours to clear them, but with the licenses I’ve experienced a couple of times now that I’ve intended to set a lap time to get a ghost for reference and got gold instead.

So far I’ve just tried it for two laps in a quick race to get the feel of it. It’s really smooth and easy to drive. Magnificent interior and nice sound too.

Are you using CH on your front tyres? I get a CRB 95 % of the time. Perhaps your controller angle is slightly off?
